NOTE: Discussion here is for the Boeing 777-200ERs refitted with the Zodiac "Concept D" Business Suite (forward and aft facing seats) only.
See the (unofficial) American Fleet Site list for configuration by registration numbers here.
Forward facing seats are overlooked by rear facing occupants across the aisle
Forward facing seats have one armrest (aisle side of seat)
Rear facing seats do not have armrests leading to a "bathtub" effect
Rear facing seats are preferred by many fliers for greater shoulder space
Forward facing seats require use of a shoulder strap in addition to the seat lap belt during takeoff and landing operations
Seat 1A is blocked for pilot rest on flights > 8 hours.
Seats 7A and 7L have restricted views (window blank)
Seats 1A, 1D, 1H, 7A, 7L, 10A, and 10L are not coupled to neighbouring seats and are reported to be less susceptible to "rocking" and "knocking"
Seats 10D and 10H are overlooked by occupants in 13B and 13J respectively.
Seats 5A and 6L are overlooked by galley occupants
Seats 10A and 10L are close to Premium Economy bassinets
Cabin overhead storage bins are capacious and when closed give the aircraft a more open, spacious feel.
In-suite storage is minimal, consisting of a niche with "fence" capable of holding a mobile phone connected to one of the two USB ports and a small area below seat level capable of holding a water bottle and small item. (two 110V AC with a "universal" plug socket is also provided.)
The area under the footrest (too small to be called an ottoman) might be able to store a purse or small item.
General fit and finish has been described as fair at best, with some gaps, misfits, etc.
IFE is AVOD and operates from a hand control. The spacious screen is hinged and can not be tilted vertically.
WiFi is Panasonic satellite international WiFi
Bang & Olufsen noise reducing headsets are provided in Business Class; these are retrieved by crew about an hour prior to landing.
A self-service snack bar is set up in the galley for Business class.
Lavatories seem more open and spacious, and offer higher volume sink basins.

Going to Hawaii this upcoming Christmas/New Years. Scheduled for a 772 both ways from DFW. If all forward facing, we'll be fine, but can't take that chance. Bringing my children (8 and 10) and my parents. My Dad has to fly forward for motion purposes. Currently selected 1, 2, and 3L for me and my kids, and 2D and 2H for my parents. My thought is that I, and whoever sits in 2H should be able to get up and help my kids if needed. As well, whoever sits in 2H should also be able to keep an eye on my 8 year old in 1L, even though he's forward facing as well. Any thoughts on this, or has anyone done it differently with a group of 5?

Business Class Seating Question 777-200 (to merge)
Hi everyone… Longtime lurker, first time poster here.
I’ve read the 777 refit threads and it’s all getting a little confusing. I’ve been researching the heck of out this and before I go crazy decided to just ask.
I'm flying J from DFW-CDG in October of this year on flight 48. The plane is a 777-200 and based on the seat map appears to be one of the Zodiac configurations. It will be my first time flying in business on one of these planes. I nabbed seat 7A because it’s one of the few seats that isn’t attached to another one but I’m also going to be close to the galley/bathroom.
So what do I want to know? What’s worse – to be in 7A or in a wobbly seat? The seating is still pretty open (with the exception of 1A) so I have a lot of choices available. I would just like to hear from anyone with this experience. I’m hoping that between now and October that there will be an equipment change. I’m checking daily. Thanks!

Personally, I find close to galley, labs to be an overrated issue, but maybe it’s the luck of the draw re: noisy passengers.
On the other hand, everyone gets up. Row 7 for sure is what I’ve chosen before and liked it.

2) For a short time, you might get a 45J or 37J Zodiac. As all the Zodiac aircraft are being standardized to 37J, I’d add I’d advise you to avoid deaths that would exceed the 37 so you don’t lose your place in an intra-Zodiac aircraft change.
3) For further information, read the Wikipost and posts in this Zodiac thread, where we have merged your new thread. /Moderator

My advice is to select the seat you would most desire in a Zodiac configuration, and if the plane ends up being a Super Diamond, almost any seat is good. It's not true the other way around, though (SD to Z).

Correct. All 47 of the 772's will be 37J by October. 19 of them Zodiac, 28 of them Super Diamond.

Thanks for the advice. Holding on to 7A for now.

Best seat for sleep?
Will be taking our first AA flight JFK-LHR on a 772 V3 in business. I’d just like to ask what are considered the best seats for a peaceful sleep. Currently have 1D and H. Don’t mind which way we face and sitting together is not important as we’ll be asleep
Thanks
Thanks

The nice thing about the new 772 J cabin is they finally got rid of the aisle overhead monitors (still have them on the 77W). So on the 77W, you have to choose wisely to keep from that thing blinding you all night. Not an issue on the 772.
I've been in the rear 772 cabin and the forward... both are equal for sleep. I prefer the forward cabin, however, for a quieter boarding process.
