MCE Refund if hit Platinum
Flying to Europe for a week.
The Saturday/Sunday flight out will put me over points for my Platinum Challenge points.
Thinking of reserving a MCE for Return flight on 777 following Saturday.
If I hit Platinum, will they refund my MCE?
If not, should I just wait or eat the Price?
Anyone know how long before it processes (one you hit challenge)?
Thanks

I don't think they will refund it. I'm on the recent elite status promo. Gold posted for me the next day after I received 6000 miles. Platinum still hasn't posted a week after receiving 12,000. How far in advance is this?

I think at the time it was someone who made Gold, and this was before the change for Golds to not get free MCE.
What did AA say?

Hi all,
Just new to the site... I have a quick question regarding AA's MCE seats. So I was able to reserve MCE seats for my upcoming flights to HKG as an oneworld sapphire with airberlin. Just curious if I would lose my MCE seats if I switch my airberlin number to BA number later on just for the sake of collecting full miles (no status on BA)??

Welcome to FlyerTalk.
Probably so. If you want the benefits associated with AA AAdvantage status it means accruing miles in AAdvantage. They might not search systematically and boot you but a flight number or schedule change could leave you without seats, let alone seats in MCE.

From aa.com:
Gift cards are redeemable toward the purchase of the base air fare and directly associated taxes, fees and charges that are collected as part of the fare calculation. Gift cards may not be used for products and/or services that are sold separately, such as upgrades; Admirals Club membership enrollments or One-Day Passes; baggage fees; pet fees; unaccompanied minor fees; oxygen fees; Preferred Seats charges; ticketing fees for transactions processed through American Airlines Reservations; taxes, fees or charges payable in connection with AAdvantage® award travel; American Airlines Vacations℠ or non-flight products and/or services sold by American Airlines.

More legroom than other seats in the cabin? Yes.
More legroom than they've always already had? Nope.

AA is being cute and trying to milk a little extra revenue out of people by marketing what were once standard exit row seats as MCE. The seats are exactly the same as they were before, AA is just apparently struggling for money at the moment and really needed to raise the prices of these seats by calling them MCE rather than Preferred.
