Wiki for using AS (Alaska) Miles on JL (Japan Airlines)
All awards for domestic Japan will default to Economy (including international F or J award with domestic segments).
However, these can often be upgraded at reasonable cost at the ticket counter in the Japan connecting airport

Just made my first booking on JL using AS miles. Is there any way to verify the e-ticket on JAL side is correct? When I login with the PNR on JAL's website, doesn't seem to display the e-ticket anywhere.
I've gotten into the habit of verifying e-tickets on partner awards over the years due to a mishap in the past...

I think so long as you confirm that AS has issued the e-ticket and you have the ticket number AND when you pull up the itinerary on JAL's website it shows all the segments and says it is "confirmed", you are good. If it says something like "ticket held until ##/##/202#" then you need to investigate further.

The closest thing I can see if at the top of the page, there's a box called status, which is showing "Ticketed"

Look below where it says flight information. There is a small box on the lower right that says services, seats, etc. Click on that box, it will then open a window that allows you to choose your seat, meals, etc.

I guess I will need to call.... which I'll need to do anyways to try and add my AS FF# as the website doesn't seem to allow anything other a JMB FF#.

I have not been there in a while so I misremembered what the actual designation was, "ticketed" is what it says and if it shows that on JAL and all your segments are showing on JAL and AS and you have the ticket number you should be good.

I've been told this applies to any kind of ticket, cash or award.

Install the APP 'Check My Trip' on your phone and add this trip using JAL's confirmation number. You should be able to see JAL's segments CONFIRMED and a 027 ticket number under the passenger name.

seems like AS made an update to the change flight tool, and the new page no longer recognizes any airports in japan other than NRT/HND. I see a 3 seats available from CTS-HND on AS/AA/BA/QF website, but phone agent claims they do not see any. Any tips on how to get them to see the correct inventory?

It's possible there is some JAL restriction such as married segments. Do not ever mention possible restrictions to the agent. If there is one they should be able to identify it and tell you what it is definitively and if they cannot then ask for a supervisor to help make the change.
