We were on our way to a cruise so our mood was not dampened by being 1 and 2 on the upgrade list and having it not come through. You wins some, you loses some.

Wow, I haven’t posted here in this thread yet. I can’t remember what happened in January, so let’s skip to February!

2/18 TUS-SEA 830a departure: UG @ 72 hr (ex VX A319)
2/20 PDX-TUS 930a departure: UG @ 48 hr-ish
2/25 PHX-SEA 830a departure: UG @ ~30 hr, SDC’d to a later flight and was able to get a F seat.
2/26 SEA-LAX 330p departure: UG @ 120 hr, SDC’d to a later SNA flight and kept a F seat. Thanks to those of you posting in the SDC thread, I learned 75Ks could SDC to different airports and different routings.

Really? That’s surprising—it always seemed like the Friday night flights were the ones with at least a decent number of elites (I snagged the last F seat) so I would have figured that weekday flights were pretty likely to get upgraded... but that is good to know. Guess I’ll have to stick to Fridays then cause it sounds like I would have no shot as a mere MVP haha

And so as to not get this too off-topic:
Date: 3/1/20
Route (Please bold if failure): SJC-LAX
Flight Number: 3418
Status (MVP, Gold or 75K): MVP
Fare Class: Y (was R class before SDC)
No companion
Time the upgrade cleared: Instantly to First at T-19, when SDC from later flight (agent changed R class to Y class... is that normal?)
Date of ticket purchase: 2/29/20

Just depends on the Friday and the route. Anything out of SEA drops the chances right off the bat. A non-holiday Friday in February on a route not touching SEA or PDX on an E175 is likely to be above 80% chance.

IME the Y fare change seems to happen if the original fare class purchased is unavailable on the new flight. The flight miles credited are still the original fare, but it seems sometimes the upgrade priority comes with the higher fare class - YMMV.

I'm about to board EWR-SFO. The upgrade list is surprisingly long for this route (26). Luckily I'm on the first leg of a JL F award so I was booked into A.

ATL-SEA

MVPG

No joy. 8 or 9 on the waitlist. Plane was absolutely packed. I was hoping I could get an empty middle seat next to me but that didn’t happen.

The fellow with the middle seat was so tall that his knees were against the seat back in front of him without the pax in front even reclining. .

Super last minute fare so I bet that 1 way segment was probably $650 or so.

Even better - Clear was horrible at ATL. Slower than regular Pre. Ugh.

Not my idea of a good time.

upgrade cleared AT Check In counter 2 hours out
Date of ticket purchase: 10/17/2019

I was at the check in counter while the agent was trying to print out my bag tag. He tried several times without success. I mentioned that I was #1 on the upgrade list and maybe I had been upgraded.. He tapped the keyboard a few times, said that was the problem and printed out the bag tag. Flew to LAX in 1C.
