Okay, so forgive an ignorant question - November is usually busy travel season for me, so I've never hit early recognition before.
This year I passed 35K in September, I'll pass 50K in December and probably end up at about 58 AQS for the year.
So, if I receive early recognition on 35K, do I have it right that I'll keep my existing selections until my 50K kicks in next year? Or do I have the option to re-select now?
I ask as I'm about to buy another FP, and I'm hoping to switch my FP selection from AQM to eUps.

You simply fly the 75K AQM or 75 AQS and spend the required AQD by 31 December and your E75K status kicks in on March 1.
If you want EARLY recognition and access to the benefits before that date, you go back in time*, and fly your 75K or 75 segments by two weeks AGO. Then you would get the benefits immediately until Feb 28. On Feb 28, however, whether you keep the E75K status depends on whether you spent the AQD by 31 December.
* There have been instances of early recognition given for passing the milestones by 1 November but those are non-guaranteed benefits.

Realistically, if you meet the requirements any time, you'll almost certainly be "swept" up to the higher status before March 1.
The only year they didn't do this was when they were switching over from the old program to Altitude.

By Oct 15? Will get status and new card.
On Dec 24 + without AQD by Dec 31? Will get status through Feb 28, 2017. No new 2016 card.

So you are agreeing with CC that the status bump (card aside) is processed immediately. (I already have AQD.) I am not expecting before March 1, nor does it make that big a deal for those two months, just curious.

This year got 75 segments before Oct 1 and again got new card. Will reach 95 in Nov. No possible way to meet $20,000 AQD requirement and so I will be Super Elite for 3 months!

I do not think it will be immediate.
They typically do sweeps at least once a month after the early recognition cutoff.

I got SE after Oct 15th deadline and got SE status straight away but it said if I don't pick options before 14th Nov I would get the defaults.

I've bumped up a couple of times within a year too. The point of this recent discussion is that Early Recognition ends Oct 15. Sometimes trickles in with some through Nov 1, per the folklore.
canadiancow pointed out that "realistically" the benefits would kick off forthwith after qualifying even if between then and Dec 31, with the caveat that benefits in the new year (Mar 1 2017) would depend on AQD as well.
With me so far?
So the question is what will be the experience this year, for qualifying above current level AFTER EARLY (whenever "early" REALLY ends, e.g., Nov 1, Nov 15). I used the pretty late date of Dec 24, for example. I would not expect to get immediate (i.e., "early") recognition of upgraded status, though it would certainly be nice to have during the first two months of 2017.

Hopefully this will answer your question whether "early" REALLY ends Nov 15 and whether 'no new card' status is immediate or after month end sweep or effective Jan 1 or 'sorry not this year'.
While it happened after Oct 15, I forget exactly when I passed E50K back in 2015. My Jan 9, 2016 boarding pass did have E50K status.
