The bolded part is very crew-dependent.

Yea^ I was of the understanding that most cabin crew were just wearing face masks with the odd one wearing gloves also. Only airline where Ive seen photos of cabin crew with full PPE is Etihad.

That would be the Ecological, a.k.a. "goop".

I've discovered another drawback with it - even if you use a limited quantity and think it's all rubbed in, the slightest bit of moisture tends to make it slimy again.

Hopefully the Bacti Control will supplant it soon.

(BTW - In my mind, Adam is complementing Vronique Rivest as my in-flight sanitizer somm).
🤣

If only there were more choice

Loved the "William Shatner Fee". There are only a few of us old enough to remember that episode on regular TV.

This is appropriate policy. The valves don't protect others from the wearer. However, if TC is quoted correctly, it is incorrect to say that a valved mask is ineffective in protecting one from the virus. Rather, the problem is that it ONLY protects the wearer, and not those around them.

For the non-N95 masks, they only protect you if everyone is wearing them. The reverse is true for N95, where all and, sometimes only, those who are wearing are protected.

It was about time ! I don't understand how those masks are accepted anywhere when masks are mandatory...

Agreed.

I have a couple of N95 (non-medical) masks with valves that I bought for forest fire smoke a couple of years ago. The term "N95" was foreign to me until I visited my pals in smoky Cupertino and they offered me one as a guest. But in my drawer they sit while I parade around in an increasingly funky array of cloth masks.

So good for AC for making this public.

In no way does it.

KN95 masks were created for dust only. The N95 masks was marketed due to the fact that when this outbreak happened - it actually started in October-

Masks were sent to China back then because everyone thought that this was a problem within China..... only. Once it was starting to go global, they then hoarded the masks, refused the selling of them outside of China, re-opened the sale of masks but with a 150-200% mark-up.

This why, the promotion of the useless N95 masks as well as any other "face covering" other than a medical masks makes no sense.

over the last week or so did 5 flights 4 of them gave the really nice AC branded Bacti Control and the other was Ecological. all were the new kits with headsets and note. odd that a short dash 8 flight with no ife it still gets a headset but i guess its for simplicity. interestingly the ecological kit on a YEG-YYZ flight had a extra note about there Covid testing trial at YYZ for international arriving passengers
