Just booked one.
LX was never in the list of airlines to which fuel surcharges were being added. They have been added to LH, BD and OS but LX escaped somehow...

Oh? Was it a mini-RTW? Were you able to include 2 stops and a destination?

From the mileage required, seems like it was a trip to Europe only.

Proof that Aeroplan is trying to push surchargeable flights

We tried booking 2 tickets YYZ-FCO.
Searching for 2 tickets, YYZ-EWR-FCO came up using CO as one of the options - no surcharge

Went back to search for ONE ticket (since 2 separate accounts would be used), voila, option does not come up anymore, and all you get is AC and LH

Ended up booking a day later on CO.

OK, I figure that I won't use this in the end at all...

Reason - in the long run, 50,000 miles doesn't make a difference to me. I earn 140K+ in 3 months. So I don't think it's worth it (for me) to use this, then fight Aeroplan, and if I would need to change, it would automatically be more miles again.

But, I wish you good luck, those who did participate.

Work from Asia to NA

Thanks OP.

Got a confirmed booking from Asia1 to NA with a stopover in Asia. Not a pro at redeeming, so I was expecting a lofty fuel surcharge. To my surprise, even though the booked flight itinerary includes a flight with ANA, fuel surcharge was < $150/person.

Finally got a trip all sorted out. Now I have to see if I can get the time off work. I should probably mention that the trip is to attend a cousin's wedding and leave off the safari side trip until later...

Yep, that's what I found too. Tried looking for options to Spain from YUL, EWR and JFK and I can't find anything that doesn't include at least one segment on AC in Y and $400+ in surcharges pp. So shady - if all *A flights are valid to book using AP they should show them all.

I am so angry right now. I am sitting at 247,600 miles. 2400 miles away from booking our dream trip, instead of the 102400 I thought we were away.

hah- cruel joke.
lots of miles to redeem but no family who wants to trail around the globe on my business trips; and no time for family travel due to frequent business trips.
hmm, must check if toasters are coming in with lower miles and no fuel surcharge....
