Transfer security had no priority line but also had no pax in the regular line—Fast!

Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? No. Used LH Senator Lounge. It was fine.

Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient?
It was offered AFTER general boarding was announced, at which point the gate was already stuffed with pax so technically yes it was offered but realistically not and no one could take advantage.

If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates?
NO! And people were getting anxious, which led to the gate crush noted above. We boarded only 20 mins before our intl departure with no announcements and no changes on the board at the gate.

Onboard - J cabin:
Were the crew professional & well groomed? Yes.
If there was a delay, were you provided with timely updates? Minor departure delay that was explained (but not true—blamed it on late aircraft—my connection got me to MUC three hours before flighttime and I saw the aircraft there) after the fact but we were not told during or after boarding an updated departure.
Was the IFE activated on the ground? Yes.
Was a pre-departure beverage offered on the ground? Yes.
Did crew offer to hang your jacket? Yes.
Were newspapers & menus distributed and meal orders taken (Please specify when meal orders were taken - on the ground or in the air)? Yes to distribution. Meal orders were begun before takeoff and completed after airborne.
Did crew offer a hot towel prior to the meal service? Yes
Approximately how long after take off did it take for the first meal service to be completed? (From takeoff to all items collected) Two hours.
How was the quality of all the meals? Good quantity; decent quality. Not the most imaginative AC meal (just a big ol’ chicken breast—not stuffed or anything) but fine. Excellent red wine offering that wasn’t on the menu—LOVELY SURPRISE!
Did the cabin crew continiously top up the beverage of your choice throughout the flight?
Not particularly but they were around if you needed them. Didn’t seem to disappear, unlike my flight over.

Overall experience/any other comments
In hindsight, the delay was minor and if ground and cabin crew had handled better, it would have been a non-issue. But the lack of info had people grumbling with a few actually yelling out from the crowd at the gate to update the monitor. Onboard people were grumbling and jockeying for overhead space worried about the connections. In the end we left <10 mins late but it would have been better for the anxiety level if they’d just shared that with everyone along the way.

And this crew liked their oven. The food was hot to the point that the lava cake was overcooked and a solid mass, and the chicken was a bit dried out. Both flavour and cooking of food didn’t meet AC’s usually quite good standards. You can’t win them all. In the end, AC still has a solid food product in the air.

Were newspapers & menus distributed and meal orders taken (Please specify when meal orders were taken - on the ground or in the air)? Yes. With two hour delay at gate, no problem getting meal orders on the ground.
Did crew offer a hot towel prior to the meal service? Yes.

Approximately how long after take off did it take for the first meal service to be completed? (From takeoff to all items collected) <50 mins as it was decided pax must be hungry after the delay so the drink/nut service was skipped and they had trays out and down as fast as I’ve ever seen. The whole J cabin got an express service!

How was the quality of all the meals? Worst AC meal ever. The fish was so dry and hard you almost needed a knife to cut it. It certainly did not flake. And rice was…crunchy!

Did the cabin crew continuously top up the beverage of your choice throughout the flight? Yes.

Great crew all around. Even FA’s from Y were chatting up customers in J. The delay was maddening but we were kept constantly updated and captain apologized appropriately. I’d fly with any one of them again.

Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Y- mosh pit as the priority and economy lines are simply too close to each other, and block the main corridor between gates.

Was the IFE activated on the ground? Y

Same for breakfast but my choice was available so being last was no big deal.

Overhead light malfunctioned; SD wrote up voucher, and found a comp clip on- proactive and much appreciated.

Was check in quick and efficient? N- long line at the check in counters as several times of departure were provided; economy and Exec lines seem to merge so a bunch forms rather than a line. went to the kiosk and printed boarding passes; no checked bags thankfully!

Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? AC uses Admiral Club- no problem getting in with Elite card and J boarding pass along with a guest. In the past I remember getting an invite, but with kiosk check in, still no problem. SCL AC is like a basement rec-room from the 1970's- and smells like old cigars but a nice option nonetheless.
Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Y offered; NO to efficient. Same issue with mosh pit approach to boarding- unless all 200+ passengers were indeed travelling in J and were SuperElite... what a mess. Poor Audio in gate area merely adds to the confusion.

Full plane but crew managed to find space for all humans and their luggage. While not an AC problem- having two flights from SA (SCL, Sao Paulo) arrive at the same time at YYZ immigration would logically lead to some kind of request for more than 4 CBSA booths open. Bless you, Nexus!

Checked in at Brussels. They were unable to print my boarding pass for FRA - YYZ, so was instructed to go out to the check in desks at Frankfurt to have a boarding pass printed. Major waste of time

Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Priority boarding was offered. Fairly efficient

If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates? No delay. We left pretty much on time.

Were the crew professional & well groomed? Very much so. Quite impressed with the crew.

Was the IFE activated on the ground? Was in business, so the screen was closed. My son had a great time with his drawing book

Childrens meal was no loaded for my son though, which was a huge pain. A boiling plate of lasagna isnt exactly what we had in mind. Major fail for AC on this one.

How was the quality of all the meals? Good quantity; decent quality. Chicken was a little dry, but not bad. Rice was mostly dried out and kind of a dissapointment. It would be nice if they didnt leave the skin on the chicken. My sons lasagna (he wasnt overly impressed as he had hoped for chicken fingers) was nearing the point of meltdown it was so hot. Took over 45 minutes for it to cool down to where he could eat it.
Did the cabin crew continiously top up the beverage of your choice throughout the flight? They were great with this. Even came up to ask my son.

Over 1 hour from leaving the plane to when the bags came out. Now our bags were the first two out, but 1 hour???

It was really a let down on the food front. The food I had was just okay, however they really did fail for the childrens meal. Yes we upgraded, but the upgrade cleared at the 36 hour window, plenty of time to plan ahead and load a childrens meal. A childrens meal was ordered for my son, and had the enonomy meal been loaded all would have been fine, as he gladly would have eaten that. But the SD went to look and said no childrens meal for my son had been loaded. So kind of hard to figure out where things went wrong. Would be nice to get some of the credits used to upgrade my sons flight back, as his experience was lacking somewhat, and a bun and some orange slices werent quite what I was expecting him to get for an eight hour flight. Sure, he is only 4 years old, but he still is a paying customer (and a very well behaved one compared to some of the other passengers in J that day)!!!

This was my first Air Canada international J experience in about five years as I usually fly in F. I was very pleasantly surprised by both the service and food. All FAs were on the ball and very friendly - a 10/10 flight!

The pods are very comfortable but I personally dislike the herring bone configuration.

Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? N/A, wasn't present as I was in transit from the other terminal
If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates?N/A, I wasn't present at the gate. Screens did show of a delay though.

Did you use priority security (if eligible) and if so, was it quick and efficient? Yes, but very slow. The examination of other passenger's belongings took an incredible long time when there were no issues with the belongings.
Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? Yes, but due to the delay from DFW and the security line, I couldn't spend much time there. Food and drinks were good.

If you have checked baggage, did it arrive within reasonable period of time? No, it took bags 15min-20min to arrive!!! This seems to be a recurring problem with YOW. This time, the plane parked at a gate that was pretty much in the middle of the airport so it wasn't as if the plane was parked at one end of the terminal where the bags need to travel a long distance.

Overall, the flight was ok. Baggage delivery to the belt in YOW definitely needs to be worked on.

Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Yes - arrived at gate after general boarding started, went to priority line and was immediately let on board

Were the crew professional & well groomed? Yes, however I think service director could use some refresher training on J cabin service

Was check in quick and efficient? This was a international-domestic connection, however the AC connections exit is not open at this time so it's a bit of a walk to leave international arrivals and walk to domestic departures area with luggage and no moving sidewalks.

Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? Yes - As many restaurants are closed in YVR at this time, some more substantial food options would be appreciated (i.e. small sandwiches, warm finger food, pasta etc). Also, pineapple juice please :)

Very unprofessional crew IMHO. They tended to us only because they had to. If I was paying for this flight and not using e-ups I would have boiled over and told them exactly where to go!

First batch came out. Map working. PA in flight not coming through the earphone. Pillow and blanket left in the seat (from the last int'l flight??) ^

Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? In YUL – not much there in the morning, the carpet needs good cleaning, it smells badly. In YTZ – very nice common lounge with Porter name everywhere.
Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Yes, does not matter in this case.
If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates? No delay, on time performance (both ways).

Onboard - Y cabin:
Were the crew professional & well groomed? Very much, same in charge FA Stephane on both flights.

This is a great product. I love the name Air Canada Express. The plane is very suitable for this route and I’d like to see it between YUL-YYZ/YOW replacing Jazz (very dated). Both my flights left/landed in YUL at A2, close to the MLL – great choice, no time wasted walking across the terminal. I have two more return trips to YTZ this month, and I am curious to see if the high standard will be maintained. Good job AC!

Was check in quick and efficient? Yes - J check-in at YWG usually has no line-up

Did you use priority security (if eligible) and if so, was it quick and efficient? No such line at YWG

Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? Yes. No problem getting a seat this time since it was not full of Y E and SE passengers. Would like a better selection of food -- hot eggs at breakfast time for high quality muffins.

Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? No - they seem to have abandoned this at YWG. I was the last to board at YYZ due to a very tight connection, so I did not see whether they offered priority J boarding.

If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates? Yes- YWG-YYZ was delayed 20 mins, and I got a text to my cell while in the taxi on the way to the airport....delayed confirmed at check-in.

Onboard - J cabin:
Were the crew professional & well groomed? Yes -- friendly on both flights.

Was the IFE activated on the ground? Yes

Was a pre-departure beverage offered on the ground? Yes

Did crew offer to hang your jacket? Yes

Were newspapers & menus distributed and meal orders taken (Please specify when meal orders were taken - on the ground or in the air)? Yes...meal orders for both flights done just after take-off.

Did crew offer a hot towel prior to the meal service? Yes

Approximately how long after take off did it take for the first meal service to be completed? (From takeoff to all items collected) 1 hr or so both flights

How was the quality of all the meals? Breakfast was nice, lunch a bit bland -- the salad needs work.

Did the cabin crew continiously top up the beverage of your choice throughout the flight? Yes

Did you use priority security (if eligible) and if so, was it quick and efficient? Yes, yes
Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? In YVR – it was quite busy on early Wednesday afternoon. In YYZ – got in for 10 minutes at 23:10, everything was ready to be closed, 2 lounge dragons were very busy talking to each other about private stuff.
Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Yes.
If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates? No delay.

Onboard - J cabin:
Were the crew professional & well groomed? Very much, especially the in charge FA Juan Carlos, one of the BEST I have ever met onboard AC.

Was the IFE activated on the ground? Yes.
Approximately how long after take off did it take for the first meal service/Onboard cafe to begin? Almost instantly when the seat belt sign was turned off.
