I went through the nexus lane in montreal and by they time I arrived downstairs the first bags including mine we're arriving on the carrousel. Although some of that rapidity might have been related to the delay (10-15mins) to deplane the flight due to some rules at YUL not to allow 2 flights to deplane exactly at the same time. Overall experience/any other comments Service was a bit rushed by the staff, but they were courteous nonetheless |

Did you use priority security (if eligible) and if so, was it quick and efficient? N/A at YHZ Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? YHZ the lounge is pretty limited in the morning (coffee, toast with Cheese Whiz, muffins) but not bad, I saw they have ice cream now, but I didn't have any. YYZ international was the same as it always is, cold beer/liquor/wine and a decent pasta dish with salad. Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Yes and efficient at YHZ, but the priority line at YYZ is a little congested, you always have to cross the regular boarding line to get to it. The pillars just get in the way, and the 777 has a big J cabin with a lot of AC*E and SE fliers that take advantage of it. I like at PEK how the regular boarding is on the left and the priority boarding is on the right, but a lot of infrequent travelers don't know the difference, so wait in line for 10 minutes and get sent to the other line. Good domestic and Excellent international (I always get the beef), but I can't handle the breakfast at the landing on the transpacific flights, would prefer a bowl of noodles or something. Mine came early (usually does at PEK, but I was traveling with two other AC*E fliers, who had to wait longer. Overall experience/any other comments: I have never had any real issues flying J on the YHZ-PEK run, which I do about 4-5 times per year. The only part I don't like is the breakfast, but if that is my only complaint, that's not bad. |
Very disappointing flight

I used the *G senator lounge and it was superb. Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Yes, however, there was a massive queue and tons of people mingling in front of the gate so it was very ineffective. If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates? N/A. Flight left on time. Onboard - J cabin: Were the crew professional & well groomed? Yes, albeit slightly dishevelled. If there was a delay, were you provided with timely updates? N/A Was the IFE activated on the ground? No Was a pre-departure beverage offered on the ground? Yes. Standard OJ or sparking wine. Did crew offer to hang your jacket? N/A. Menues were already on the seats and orders were taken once in the air. Did crew offer a hot towel prior to the meal service? Yes. The quality of the first meal was excellent. The lamb main was tender and nicely seasoned. I much preferred the ice cream dessert to the chocolate pecan pie I had on the outbound flight. However, the pre-landing meal left a massive amount to be desired. The cold cheese and cured meats is such an unsubstantial meal after 8+ hours of flying. I would have really expected 2 hot meals on this flight. Did the cabin crew continiously top up the beverage of your choice throughout the flight? No. The cabin crew entirely disappeared after the first meal service. No additional drinks were offered. Furthermore, the mid-galley 'bar' area was never set up. Overall, completely unacceptable level of service for a biz class product. Post departure If you have checked baggage, did it arrive within reasonable period of time? Standard time. Priority tag was cut off my bag. Overall experience/any other comments - I was originally seated in 6G, until I discovered copious amounts of undigested food/vomit filling the seat pocket. This was unfortunately after I already put my iPad and phone in there. This was incredibly disgusting and totally unacceptable. Luckily, the crew were able to move me to another seat, however, something like this should never happen. - The mid-galley bar area was never set up. The crew never made rounds throughout the cabin to offer drinks/small snacks, but instead chatted in the forward galley the entire flight. The final meal service began and hour before arriving in Toronto and was completely rushed. Overall, a very unpleasant flight. |

Attempted to use priority security...refused entry because boarding pass did not clearly identify flight was business class. I had specifically asked at check in if the boarding pass gave priority security access and was assured yes, but lady working the security line up at YYZ still refused us. Not worth arguing it further with her as regular line up was short, but airport needs to get their act together on this issue. We were delayed about 2 hours, the sign above the attendants, it was difficult to hear the updates (quite announcements and a loud travel companion) Onboard - J cabin: Were the crew professional & well groomed? Excellent on all accounts (I suggested I would reroute my future flights through YVR for the cookies alone, at which time I was offered more). The ice cream between ICN and YVR was great, and the seafood/rice dish was a nice change from the omelet. Did the cabin crew continiously top up the beverage of your choice throughout the flight? From ICN I slept most of the way, but as soon as I was awake and had my light on, I was offered something to drink, from YVR to YYZ I stayed awake and my glass was seldom empty. N/A No checked bags Overall experience/any other comments I was curious about what would happen on this flight, as it was the first one I was on after the strike deadline (and only about 6 hours after the deadline). I had been paying attention to the negotiations and knew that a deal had been reached, but I was curious how it was going to affect the flight. Overall I was very impressed with the quality of service on both legs of the flight, in particular the ICN-YVR segment. The SD (Steven) made a point to address me by name every time he spoke to me (even introducing himself personally at the beginning of the flight) which is something that never happened on my PEK flights. Overall I would say that I was very impressed with the cabin crew on this flight, top marks all around. |

I got first choice as SE and it seemed like they ran out of fish unusually quickly. My problem with this was we pushed back at 7:30 pm and then began supper service at about 8 pm and because the crew gave meals individually and then bread and wine individually to all passengers in front of us (we were in the last row of business class), we got to smell everything and then see it all being served and THEN got to see everyone getitng their cocktail topped up or wine served, before they brought us our meal. I was starving by the time the actual meal arrived. Once the meal arrived they seemed to forget us - I actually had to ring the call button for bread and extra water to go with my food. How was the quality of all the meals? It was fine but / and heavily salted as usual - I would like it less salty if possible. Did the cabin crew continiously top up the beverage of your choice throughout the flight? Yes except once. I had to actually ring the FA for water and bread. I don't know - checked through to Sydney Overall experience/any other comments I just found out from the extremely nice concierge here that because I flew 149 rather than 33, passengers embarking on 33 in Toronto get priority to upgrade over me regardless of my status. This is frankly unacceptable and a reason I tend to avoid AC when flying if I can. |

Was the IFE activated on the ground? No. Approximately how long after take off did it take for the first meal service/Onboard cafe to begin? About 1 hour, it was OK. How was the quality of the meal/Onboard cafe? Like normal airplane meal. Did the cabin crew offer water regularly throughout the flight? Yes. Post departure If you have checked baggage, did it arrive within reasonable period of time? Yes. Overall experience/any other comments Initially I booked YVR-YYZ-FRA. However AC cancelled the YVR-YYZ flight and put me on the earlier flight. Since I couldn't go to the airport earlier (farewell lunch) I called the German AC hotline (since in Canada you wait at least 30 min with no status). The agent was super arrogant and kept telling me that it was a "schedule change" so therefore he can't do anything for me. He also sent me an e-mail with TC in PDF format and showing me on which page I should read, etc. I thought it's really weird since the flight AC XXX really didn't exist anymore for that day. At least he offered me some alternative routes and kept constantly telling me all he can do is ask his supervisor for waving the fees for courtesy. Finally I had to call the Canadian hotline. The agent changed my flights in less than 5 minutes. Since she seemed to be busy I just told her I would appreciate if she gives me either a window or an aisle seat. After this I wrote a e-mail back to the German agent and telling him that the problem was solved. Checking my flights online I saw that no seat was assigned. I didn't care because I saw there was only one middle seat and lots of window and aisle seats left. I thought I can manage this when I check-in online. Two weeks later when I had to check my other flights with AC I saw by coincidence that someone gave me the last middle seat you can reserve for this flight (outside the preferred seating area). So I had to call again the hotline and I spend another hour just to talk to someone and change the seat. When I arrived at the airport, I had 3 luggages, with 28kg, 22kg and 6kg. In total as a *G I can bring 3 x 23kg with me, so 69kg. I had "only" 56kg with but the check-in agent didn't accept my luggages. So I had to repack all my stuff. I don't know if he just had a bad day or he is insane. Telling me it's only the rules he has to apply is something I can accept but he was laughing and also putting me under pressure by telling me that the deadline is close (60min before flight departure) and so on. Then I told him I want to talk to his supervisor but he just said he went home. Since the check-in problem was a pain in the ... but not my biggest problem in my life I just made him happy and finally he accepted my luggages. There are more little things I didn't mention here but everything summed up and now I think it's enough for me. And it's a pitty; when I came to YVR two years ago I got an upgrade on my first flight with AC and I was happy... |

Priority tagged luggage came out first. Overall experience/any other comments This was a weekend getaway with my son. He used the same backpack that he used the week before to Scouts camp which has a Leatherman utility knife (similar to Swiss army knife) in it as the carry on. CATSA agent at security check was very polite and ask me to take it back tot he airline to have to send back home by courier. The Leatherman costs $90. So I went to the AC check in agent with the Leatherman and do what the CATSA suggested. However, AC does not offer the courier service to send it back. She cannot give to to airport lost and found that I can come back to claim it 2 days later. She offered me to check it in but she cannot just check in the Leatherman. She suggested I go back to security to get the backpack and check that in with the Leatherman. She printed a luggage check and accompany me to the US luggage drop off area to wait for me to retrieve the back pack. Finally the $90 Leatherman is safely on the way. In the heat of the moment I forgot to ask for her name. She is an old lady at the Executive Class check in. Kudo to the AC check in agent. A million thanks from me and my son.^ The FA on this flight was great too. I was seated at 12D, first Y row. I am on diuretics and drank too much liquid on the ground, so I needed to go as the plane was taking off. I waited for the seat belt light to go off before I can go the washroom. However, the FA's drink cart was out blocking my way to the back washroom for Y pax. Since drink service has started, she offered me to use the front washroom instead. She even accompany me to the front making sure the FA in front would let me through. As I have missed the drink service while I went to the washroom, the FA actually came back to see if I want any drinks even she is already half way down the cabin. That is good service.^ |

Note here that the AC kingston jamaica flight to YYZ was late thus the connection problems. Why is it that every time I pass through YYZ, I busting my butt to get to the connecting flight...I'm always arriving late! |

N/A, bag was checked through to my next KE flight Overall experience/any other comments I had been traveling on 777s via Beijing, but have recently found my last three 767 flights (ICN-YVR RT and LHR-YHZ) to be better. While I prefer the 777 plane, the service seems better on the 767, maybe it is the smaller cabin, less passengers, etc. The SD was great, throwing in some lightheartedness into the announcements. |

The YUL International MLL lounge is always very busy in the late afternoon with all the *A TATL flights leaving almost at the same time. Good selection of drinks and snacks. I strongly recommend to take the express menu if you want to have a proper time to sleep. How was the quality of all the meals? OK. I had an excellent smoked salmon and then an overcooked filet mignon. Excellent choice of French, Canadian and Argentinean wines. I skipped breakfast in order to sleep a little more.
