Date:14 July 2011 Cabin: J Status: None Pre departure Was check in quick and efficient? Yes, Exec class check in took about 2 minutes. Did you use priority security (if eligible) and if so, was it quick and efficient? N/A Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? The MLL in Los Angeles is badly in need of an upgrade. The check-in agent was rather curt when I asked a few questions, and the room was not large enough for all the people using it. Also I was a little surprised when bar service had the same opening as Toronto (11 am). I know in Ontario you can’t start serving liquor until that time, but in California you can serve much earlier. The curt lounge employee said they used to open earlier, but haven’t for some time. Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Yes this went very well. Boarding had just started when I arrived, and the gate agents stopped the Y pax when I approached with my Exec. Class boarding pass, and put me at the head of the line. If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates? No. However, just a minor 30 min. delay. Onboard - J cabin: Were the crew professional & well groomed? Yes If there was a delay, were you provided with timely updates? Not really just an apology for the delay Was the IFE activated on the ground? Did crew offer a hot towel prior to the meal service? No. Rather surprising, as I have always had the hot towel service before. Approximately how long after take off did it take for the first meal service to be completed? (From takeoff to all items collected) I’m just guessing, perhaps two hours? How was the quality of all the meals? Very good filet of salmon, however as for the cookies and ice cream the cookies were in the oven too long and they were rather hard instead of soft and chewy. We were served Hagen Daz ice cream which was a nice surprise, as I was expecting another brand. Did the cabin crew continuously top up the beverage of your choice throughout the flight? Yes they did, although I did have to ask for a Grand Marnier after the end of the meal service. Post departure If you have checked baggage, did it arrive within reasonable period of time? It seemed to take longer than usual (I waited about ten minutes for my bags, however, that is not really all that bad). Overall experience/any other comments I experienced the Exec class suites on this 767 for the first time, and I was very favourably impressed. Looking forward to having them again on some future flight. Overall a very pleasant flight, notwithstanding a few minor issues. |

On getting on the plane in Beijing I was not welcomed onboard or anyone as I tried to navigate round the galley with my wheelie bag and rucksack and the crew could be best described as a bit miserable. The Asiana crew made me feel welcome and special while the AC crew made it seem like it was all a bit of a chore.:td: |

Quick in the sense that I jumped ahead of other people in line, inefficient in that I was assigned to a security line with a very slow moving lady ahead. Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? Yes. Good selection both in YYZ and YUL. No wait for the shower in YYZ. Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Don't know, not at the gate early enough to hear. When I was in sight of the gate at YUL, I saw a mass movement of people from Economy line to Exec First. So much so that when I was at the gate, the Economy line was shorter. Puzzling. Yes. Captain did an excellent job of explaining delay on ground arriving into YUL and departure delays out of YUL as well (same cockpit crew for both legs). Was the IFE activated on the ground? (From takeoff to all items collected) Probably between 60 and 90 minutes on YUL-BRU and about 30 minutes on YYZ-YUL. How was the quality of all the meals? Good. Yes Post departure If you have checked baggage, did it arrive within reasonable period of time? No. BRU has to be one of the worst airports for luggage delivery (at least of the ones I have visited). It's slow-torture delivery. Half a dozen bags show up at a time, then nothing for several minutes, then repeat. It takes about 45 minutes to go from first bag to last bag. Or to find out (in my case) my suitcase stayed in Toronto! Overall experience/any other comments Pre-ordered duty free as gifts but it wasn't loaded on the plane for some reason. CSD quite apologetic and suggested I had a concierge make sure it was available on the return flight (not sure it would happen since pre-ordering is normally available ex-Canada only but pointless either way since they were gifts). I wish AC would find a way to prep the aircraft for the YUL-BRU leg without kicking everyone out... Crew definitively pleasant enough. |

Even on the drink service, one of the FA's (an older lady) was quite possibly the nicest person I have met, yet her partner serving the drinks was quite possibly one of the most miserable I have met. He couldnt care less, rolled eyes and was just not intersted at all. You could see the woman who he was working with was embarassed at how he was acting. I arrived at the gate 5 minutes in to boarding and the line for economy was quite long, I walked right on to the plane. If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates? No delay Onboard - J cabin: Were the crew professional & well groomed? Very much so. Only issue I would say would be the one FA talking to a customer during the safety demonstration (via video). I am going to write a hand written letter to Air Canada about the service I received from YYZ-SCL. There is a crew change in SCL and that crew was pretty good. Late departure due to missing Pilots. Plane leaves 35 minutes late. IFE does not work at all. No compensation allowed for inactive IFE on AC flights under 3 hours I was informed. new rule or cheap AC. crew was fast and efficinet handing out drinks and new Kraft food bar?? arrive late as per expected. Quick to the gate and door was open in seconds it seemed. |

Priority bags were the first off the lane ^ but still slow. First plane into T1 that morning and it was still 20 minutes before the 1st bag came out. Overall experience/any other comments A normal 146 experience. However, I do think that the service standards need to be tweaked slightly to accommodate the time of this flight. For instance, in Y the lights are off as soon as the gate is disconnected. In J, it was 45 minutes after take-off before they were off because they are on to serve drinks from the cart. On a flight that late, with so few people partaking in drinks, I feel like turning off that lights right away and taking orders from people who are awake (and then prepping drinks in the galley) would be a big improvement so that the rest of the pax can sleep. With lights on 1:30 before landing for breakfast service, 45 minutes is a lot of the remaining 2 hrs to have the lights on. |

Date: July 25, 2011 Cabin: Y:mad: Status: E Pre departure Was check in quick and efficient? Requested u/g at T-4 days, it cleared right away. First time this year in 6 attempts. Checked in at T-23 hrs on my iPhone. Worked fine except web response was slow. Rec'd a call at 10:12 am saying flight delayed 3.5 hrs, agent offers me J at 16:00 or Y at 17:00. Can't make 16:00, so I say I'll accept 17:00 if she can find me an aisle seat. She does. I check in from the iPhone and request an upgrade (might as well). Check-in confirmed, but it's not clear whether the upgrade request went through. At 11:32 I get a message that new flight is delayed by 1:40. Okay, only 40 min behind the original departure time, so I switch back to Day Plan A. At 12:20 I get another message, delay is now 1:00, not 1:40, which puts me at the original departure time on the old flight. Arrive at Gate at 17:25 on the off chance that the u/g clears. From the looks of it, no hope. I see the flight crew, cabin crew, but at 17:30 still no a/c - there's no chance this bird flies at 18:00. A/c arrives at 17:35. Crew doesn`t board until 17:48. By 18:10 I`m aboard. IT`S AN AMIGO! :mad: Get to my seat and I`m beside a mother with a lap child. Wonderful. While sitting on the a/c I get a message that departure time is now 18:20. At 18:25 Captain announces that ramp crew has been reassigned and we now have to wait for another crew. At 18:37 we push back. By the time I get to the desk (5 min) there are about a dozen people waiting to get in. Once in, everything is as usual. Tried to work but too many people yacking on cell phones to concentrate. Did the cabin crew continiously top up the beverage of your choice throughout the flight? Onboard - Y cabin: It`s an Amigo. Were the crew professional & well groomed? Average. If there was a delay, were you provided with timely updates? No, other than the text messages - see above. Was the IFE activated on the ground? What IFE - It`s an Amigo. Approximately how long after take off did it take for the first meal service/Onboard cafe to begin? One hour. How was the quality of the meal/Onboard cafe? I decided to wait until I got home at midnight EDT. Did the cabin crew offer water regularly throughout the flight? Yes, if twice is regularly. Post departure If you have checked baggage, did it arrive within reasonable period of time? N/A Overall experience/any other comments: On top of the delayed departure, the routing went way south to avoid weather, adding another 20-30 minutes. All in all, one of the worst flights I`ve had in a long time. BTW, I`m still sitting on 39 u/g credits, 1 for 6 this year. I feel enhanced. |
