The SD (Ruth) welcomed everyone on-board smiling and joking with various kids. There were only 2 J passengers (not related) and she picked up on our preferences instantly (we were both very casual). She was always there to refill or offer food right before we ran out. Based on a conversation the 3 of us had while delayed she made great movie recommendations for the flight. She obviously loves what she does for a living and it comes through constantly. Point blank: Ruth is a phenomenal SD and the best SD/FA I've ever had the pleasure of flying with. If she isn't already, she should be instructing new FAs on service levels and expectations. Best flight ever. |

Date: Jan 17, 2011 Cabin: Upgraded to J originally, downgraded to Y after cancellation Status: Super Elite Pre departure Was check in quick and efficient? No, it was not. I was rebooked onto an itinerary the next day though a same day itinerary was available and easily achievable after a cancellation. A call to the Super Elite desk that was supposed to fix this did not, and so the checkin desk agent had to redo it. The slow and inefficient had nothing to do with the checkin desk but everything to do with mangling my itinerary without involving a human being in the first place, and then by the screwup at the super elite desk. The checkin desk agent had to fix all of that and did a good job. Did you use priority security (if eligible) and if so, was it quick and efficient? Yes, it was not material though as security was empty in all lanes. Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? Yes, MLL good as always. Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Priority boarding was ignored by the gate agents at YUL as they usually do. Big lineups being processed while the automated preboarding announcement going on. So while the computer offered it the people did not and no it was not efficient. Boarding was a gong show as this GVA-originating flight had been delayed due to arriving an hour late and pax were getting antsy If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates? N/A Overall experience/any other comments The crew, well, polite and professional was younger and appeared quite frazzled that there were still pax missing from the flight 30 mins past scheduled departure time. No announcements were made and when the late pax arrived they were loudly complaining about having to take all their 'crap' off the plane just to get back on the same plane and same seat to make it to YYZ. I was going to explain the term 'Direct International Flight' but decided otherwise. ;) |

This was my first ever trip on Air Canada.

Yes - in Toronto - food wasn't bad and they kept it replenished and hot; liked the drinks and snack selection. Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Yes and okay (not great - plane was late being towed over and then had to de-ice); left 75 minutes late; understated the delay several times. Agent wanted to finish personal conversation with TSA agent. Took him about 3 minutes to do that. I was the only one at the counter. I came off LH from FRA so was very much between departures. Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? No, but EWR RCC is one of my favourite RCCs (after the old club at MSP). Yes, worked well and a great thing for this flight as the bins on dash 8 fill up quickly If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates? Pilot announced but no reason other than mechanical issue. No crash trucks on the ground at YEG so must have been minor. Found out by overhearing FA that it was a lost generator. Within about 30 minutes of landing back at YEG back on another aircraft via ramp transfer and on way to YMM. Was the IFE activated on the ground? There is IFE? Oh yah sorry dash 8 ;-) Approximately how long after take off did it take for the first meal service/Onboard cafe to begin? Did not get anything first flight and I was in row 1. On Second flight only water. How was the quality of the meal/Onboard cafe? This is a 7:30 am flight, can you offer something other than pretzels (this is what is usually offered, nothing offered on this flight). I have been doing this flight a few times this year and only once offered coffee, on this flight I asked for coffee and there was none. Overall experience/any other comments As mentioned I have been on this flight a few times this year and will probably be on it again another dozen times. Also having something other than pretzels in the am would be great, thankfully there is a Starbucks at YEG, but there are limited options on the return from YMM |

YYZ-YOW Flight from YSB arrived 20-25 minutes late, so expected to just make my connection. Got to gate for YYZ-YOW flight and there is no plane at the gate - lots of people, no plane. At this point it is 10-15 min past the printed "boarding time" Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? Service was good there - issue is communication. I enter and was told by agent at desk that my flight is now boarding (I assume she is just wondering why I am there at this late a time). I inform her that there is no plane at that gate, so not boarding yet. She checks computer and tells me it is boarding. After short (polite) discussion she phones gate and agrees with me - no plane there - it is being towed over. So this delay has resulted in wasting how much of her time (never mind mine), and is repeated for how many customers. Oh yes - the flight notification I signed up for sends me a text about the delay as we are just about to taxi out. Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Crew on board the YYZ-YOW was really great for such a short flight. On the other hand, I cannot understand why Air Canada cannot resolve this lack of communication about delayed flights - not just because it inconveniences customers - but because it is wasting your employees' time also. Clearly they don't know about the delays too. In the age of text messaging this would allow rapid communication of changes to schedule, keeping everyone informed, but AC seems incapable of this level of organization. |

When I got to YYZ, I realized I had been give 2 boarding passes to the YOW-YYZ flioght and none to the YYZ-SFO flight. A quick call to the Concierge solved the problem and a new BP was delivered in minutes. Did you use priority security (if eligible) and if so, was it quick and efficient? Yes- but it was very busy. Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? Yes- it was busy wehn I first got in- not enough seats- clear out after about 45 minutes. Overall experience/any other comments: We had very good service- with the extra delay on the ground, and then waiting for quite a while at the de-icing bay, SD Robert came around with drinks while waiting for de-icing. He is a very good SD- he love AC and his positive attitude is infectious. He engaged with us and took extra time to talk to us.He clearly cares about the customers on board and genuinely wanted all of us to leave with a positive impression of AC--I was defintely impressed!!
