The crew just put the selection on a tray and I had to point to what I liked - it is not what I am used to, but it may all work better in the end as it makes it easier to choose. I was quite surprised with seeing the level of frustation - after all, this WAS a flight originating from PEK. Subsequently, a Chinese female crew member assisted. 2) The same Chinese female crew member did not seem friendly at all. As an international J passenger, I expected a much friendlier crew member. |

I was on a full executive class ticket (not an upgrade), so I'm not sure how that was possible. |

This 763 requires power down on engine start-up, but it was a long time after take off that system was first turned on. Got my head bitten off for asking them to turn it on (20 minutes after take off). My system worked throughout the entire flight, but because of problems at the back they rebooted 5 times and left the system in Welcome Aboard mode from 10-20 minutes each time. The in charge said he needed to do the reboots to prevent a riot in the back for the 40 affected people, but admitted it wasn't actually helping. If AC is going to market the experience this needs to be a higher priority. Some crew needed a lesson in customer service, having paid for J don't like feeling that any simple request will get my head bitten off. |

Duty free is awesome at TLV, and often the aircraft hasn't even landed from YYZ, which allows for the obligatory pit stop. :) |

I was connecting from a separate BR TPE-HKG flight (and ticket) and therefore only needed to check in at HKG for my BPs. I had considered using the transfer area at HKG but since I needed to head into town to run an errand, I decided to just check in at the check in counter on the departures level. Did you use priority security (if eligible) and if so, was it quick and efficient? N/A. I don't think there's a priority security area at HKG. Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? N/A. Obviously was eligible to use one of three lounges (UA RCC, SQ SKL & TG) but didn't do so due to lack of time and a preference to have a real meal instead of lounge snacks. After all, none of the lounges serve curry beef brisket rice, do they? ;) FWIW, it would've been a nice touch for the contracted agent working check in to let me know where the lounge was, though. Right off the bat, I noticed during boarding that besides the crew located at the door we boarded from, there were no greetings. I was miffed because while seated in the left aisle seat of the middle seats, I was completely skipped in regards to the first beverage run. By the time I realised what had happened, the cart was long down the aisle. If anyone is wondering why I didn't speak up earlier, it's because I had been snapped at on my YVR-HKG flight a month earlier for asking for my trash to be picked up when I mistakenly thought they had skipped me. In addition, the tone of one of the FAs when helping with a heavy bag left something to be desired. An older person was having slight trouble getting their bag into the overhead bin and the FA saw what was happening, gruffly said "If you can't lift your own bag, next time you should check it in" and then helped to put the bag into the bin. It was really the tone rather than the message that irked me. Last but not least, napkins and chopsticks were handed out for the mid-flight cup noodle snack but turbulence interfered with the serving of said cup noodles. Completely understood the decision to delay that service but sadly, the cup noodles never appeared when the turbulence stopped. Annoyingly, that left a couple of hundred people in Y holding onto useless pairs of wooden chopsticks, which were never collected. To give AC some credit, sandwiches and a packet of cookies had been handed out along with the chopsticks, so there was a mid-flight snack, just not a complete mid-flight snack. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt in regards to the constant turbulence that affected us from HKG all the way until we were past Japan. There were AC staff milling about but I couldn't find any desks labelled anything but "Economy Class". But there was no queue and I just walked right up to the desk. I arrived after the pre-departure beverages and newspapers and was never offered either even though there was plenty of time. There was also no menu on my seat (and I noticed a few other people near also looking around for one) The IFE was not active on the ground. The MLL had a longer queue for entry than security! And the showers weren't available when I entered as they were waiting for the groomer. As usual my complaint about the YYZ lounges is that they don't check the status of the flights. Once again I left the lounge only to arrive at the gate and find they weren't even ready to start boarding. This makes the lounges *much* less useful than at other airports. The SD and FA on this flight were *incredible*. They were warm, friendly, and talkative without being in any way intrusive or pushy. They went out of their way to offer anything helpful and answer any questions. Honestly I was wondering whether I was being overly negative about the previous flight. I had this feeling they were being cold even though I couldn't identify anything particularly wrong. But when I saw this crew it was suddenly clear what the previous crew was missing. It was a night and day difference. |
