No, UA RCC, substandard compared to MLL, but nice break from the concourse Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? The absolute crush of hundreds of people all trying to submit cards to 2 officiers made for a substantial delay. Once out of customs, clearing security was quick through priority lane. Screening itself took over 5 minutes, just for me. Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? Yes, for what limited time I had. All of the computers were slow, especially the AC site which I was trying to use to check into my flight for the following day. The food choices were limited, but I love the YYZ MLL Domestic lounge. A true flagship of AC Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Yes, but there was no enforcement of this. I noted " free for all" in my notes. GA asked for cert, told her it was taken at the first station (SNA) and told her that there should be a notation to indicate this. If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates? Eventually got it to work at the YEG MLL; however, I would not say it was a particularly easy or efficient check in Did you use priority security (if eligible) and if so, was it quick and efficient? N/A no line ups Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? Yes, liked the fact that the new EnRoute Mag was available in the YVR lounge. Coffee & bread was good Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Yes and as long as one is near the desk it is efficient, otherwise forget it! If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates? Push was supposed to be at 8:00, did not happen until 8:10. No announcement, but I assume it was from cargo loading since I could hear the noise underneath. Onboard - J cabin: Were the crew professional & well groomed? Yes If there was a delay, were you provided with timely updates? See above Was the IFE activated on the ground? Yes, BUT there were no foam ear covers loaded or available on plane. J passengers had to put the pastic earphones on their ears for the cross-Canada flight. What was strange is that no traditional ear bud type head sets were offered as a substitute. (From takeoff to all items collected) Tray served 50 minutes after push back, less than 1.5 hours start to finish. Cookies and ice cream 1.5 hours prior to landing How was the quality of all the meals? Same as yesterday's breakfast. Had the omlette this time, it was actually pretty good. N/A Overall experience/any other comments Overall it was the most anticipated (being a 777) yet disappointing of my 5 flights. There seemed to be a huge disconnect between the SD and the FA's. Only 1 sole FA opened up all of the screens in J for the safety video. Most passengers missed the first 1/2 unless the opened their own screen. Many passengers in the forward cabin complained of the overwhelming warm temperature. FA replied "we've told captain..." The lights in the cabin were not dimmed for the entire flight. Even with the window shades down it was difficult to view the IFE, with the emphasis on VIEW since we could not hear it the IFE. I will say that one FA stood out amongst the rest. I personally mentioned this to her and don't think it would be appropriate to name her publically so I have sent Andrew a PM regarding this. |

Since I had just arrived from YVR asked to use the showers in the MLL YYZ US lounge. Agent showed me to Shower Room 1. When I entered there was an unflushed toilet. I also noticed that several bulbs were burnt out making the room rather dark and uninviting. Two of the covers over the vanity lights was also missing. Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? No, it was chaos. Simply everyone get on. If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates? Told on boarding pass to show up at gate at 17:15. Board in MLL showed "on time". Arrived at gate at 17:00. No plane. GA arrives at 17:10, no announcement, board still shows "on time". 17:15 boarding time, still no plane at gate. 17:20 a tug brings a plane to the gate. 17:40 we all are told to board at the same time. Door at the end of the bridge is locked. Passenger goes back up ramp to tell the GA who comes down to unlock the door allowing us on the plane. 17:57 the door of the plane closes. No announcements made throughout the process Onboard - J cabin: Were the crew professional & well groomed? Yes If there was a delay, were you provided with timely updates? We told him at the end how to properly say the name of the city, but I agree it is confusing. What is the destination called: John Wayne Airport, Santa Ana, Orange County or all of the above and what are the FA's supposed to call it? |

Date: 08/31 Cabin: J Status: AC*E Pre departure Was in the lounge and arrived at the gate just in time for (a delayed) boarding, dunno how it was before hand. Priority checking was used w/o issue YYZ Dom MLL was fine, caught up on some emails. Priority boarding was offered, using the appropriate lane. It also appeared to be enforced (ie non status was asked to hold off) Onboard - J cabin: Crew was well groomed though the gentleman who provided the drinks in the J cabin appeared rather disorganized - didn't bring out drinks on time or in order and mixed up orders. 1 Hr delay as the cargo hold couldn't be closed. Updates were provided every 30 mins, but each promised a 5 min departure.... :-( IFE was active, saw 1/2 of A-Team before take off ;-) OJ + Water were offered I req'ed my jacket to be hung, but I'm impatient and type-a Newspapers were distributed - no menus Meal orders were taken on the ground due to the delay by status. Hot towel provided after nuts but before meal About 1hr between take off and the last of the items to be collected (no including cookies + ice cream service) No offer of a top up other than wine selection during the main meal |

I know my way around a kitchen, why would AC select cuts that aren't "forgiving" to over cooking? Most cheap cuts /w lots of connective tissue can be stewed / braised etc for long periods of time, and are quite forgiving in these situations. Instead, we get shoe leather for beef |

Yes. Not efficient at all as the whole plane seemed to line up when the first peep of the flight number was announced (boarding didn't start until 5+ min after this happened). To the credit of the GAs they did do their best to filter the non-priority boarders out after the first boarding announcement, but most families with small children simply stayed in their place in line instead of heading to the front of it. Date: 2010-09-04 Cabin: J Status: Elite Pre departure Was check in quick and efficient? Online check in did not work until aprox 6 hours pre-departure. On arrival at the airport, the kiosk wouldn’t print any documents. Used the E/SE agent and she quickly provided my documents. Did you use priority security (if eligible) and if so, was it quick and efficient? No, the Priority lane had 5+ people waiting, the regular lines 1 or 2 each. I used the NEXUS lane where there was nobody waiting. Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? Yes, stopped for a quick drink and a cookie. The veggies looked much like the one in this bachelor’s fridge... in a word, scary. Had to point out the location of the soft drinks to a new lounge visitor, could use a sign... Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Arrived 10mins past boarding time and pre-boarding was just being announced. Remarkable, there was nobody rushing at the gate after the pre-boarding announcement. If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates? N/A? The tenderloin wasn’t mind blowing but it was passable. The mesclun salad is brutal and it would be nice if there was a selection of appetizers. N/A – No checked bags. Overall experience/any other comments To start, my sincere thanks to the crew in the J cabin. They were extremely polite and personable, each taking the time to introduce themselves and ask how I was, if I needed anything, etc. With only 3 people in the J cabin, the FAs took the initiative to close all the window shades in the unoccupied seats (entire starboard side of the A/C), greatly improving the ambiance. The crew were truly exemplary and made me proud to fly the maple leaf. The Captain provided an advanced warning while waiting to push back that we would experience turbulence through our climb out of YYZ. Again, thanks for the heads up, I have never felt an airplane yaw side to side like that before (weeeeee fun!). The power outlets in rows 2/3 were problematic. The 110V outlet for 2A let out several arcs, the others in row 2 just turned off when anything was plugged into them. This was realllllly annoying around the 4 hour point when my laptop was thirsty and unlike its owner, couldn’t keep going on wine alone. |

No line at YYC for first connection, so no need to Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? All good in YYC,YVR and YEG Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Yes If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates? N/A Note: I noticed the flight was quite full, so I asked the MLL "dragon" if it was oversold, which it was. I went to the gate at 1 hour prior to departure, and volunteered to be VDB'd if needed. I went back to the MLL, and hung out for another 30 mins. Upon my arrival back at the gate, I was paged to the podium for an op-up! ^ Thanks, AC! They took as many meal orders as possible on the ground, but they didn't get to my row before takeoff. They got my breakfast order right after it was safe for them to move around. Did crew offer a hot towel prior to the meal service? Approximately how long after take off did it take for the first meal service to be completed? (From takeoff to all items collected) First "meal" was cookies and ice cream, which took about an hour and 15 mins. I didn't have the breakfast, as my choice wasn't available and I wanted to sleep. How was the quality of all the meals? Cookies and ice cream was awesome like always. Did the cabin crew continiously top up the beverage of your choice throughout the flight? Slept for most of it, so not really needed. Post departure If you have checked baggage, did it arrive within reasonable period of time? HAHAHAHA! No.:mad: My bag never showed up, and I missed my connection to the US because of all the waiting. The baggage agents have no idea where it is, but they think it's at YVR. Will I see it before I have to return from the US? Doubtful. :( Overall experience/any other comments It's funny how AC is sometimes. I get an op-up, which is awesome, especially on a redeye, but then my bag disappears and causes me to mis-connect. Everything must be in balance, I suppose. |

Yes, there was nothing out of the norm Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Yes. Boarding started much closer to (possibly before) the time on the boarding pases. Made for a very calm boarding process. No massive line crowding the gate at all. N/A Overall experience/any other comments This was my second flight of the day where no menu was provided and both times it was said that they weren't catered. I spent some time in the galley speaking to one of the FAs and she said that meal rotations were moving to monthly. You're going to have to really watch that the more frequent menu changes doesn't lead to a consistent lack of menus at the start of the month. |

A sign pointing the way to it would be nice though. Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? Yes and yes. If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates? N/A? Onboard - J cabin: Were the crew professional & well groomed? Yes. If there was a delay, were you provided with timely updates? N/A Was the IFE activated on the ground? Yes, after the safety video during taxi. Was a pre-departure beverage offered on the ground? Yes. Did crew offer to hang your jacket? Menu’s shown and orders taken after climb out and seat belt sign off. Did crew offer a hot towel prior to the meal service? The salad was wilted, pretty much compost with a cherry tomato on top. The chicken breast was quite nice, but it would have been nice if the skin was removed.
