With the evolution of the Miles&Bonus program, there are a number of threads on this forum that contain outdated information, plus a further set that - whilst describing the new program - contain conflicting information that has only been crystallised as we all discover how certain aspects of the program either work or are interpreted.

It is perhaps therefore unsurprising that many new members find searching through this myriad of threads a little daunting, and consequently they post a question in one of the FAQ threads.

This tends to irk those who've been around for a while who expect the new posters to at least do some basic searching before posting a question that has probably been asked many times before. This also causes the forums to become very congested and less easy to read through with the same question being asked and answered many times.

I am therefore creating a thread, which will be stickied, for anyone to ask any question they like about the M&B program where they are unsure or it's not obvious where they should be posting it.

There is no such thing in this thread as a stupid question, no issue with asking a repeat question, and any answers should be 100% flame-free. I will take a dim view of anyone that abuses a member or provides a less than helpful answer (such as 'do a search') to any question asked in here, because this is being created to benefit all of us so the other threads flow more cleanly. Thank you for your co-operation on this.

It might be that I move questions to more appropriate threads so they receive an answer more quickly, but if I do so I will always add a note to indicate where they originated, and ask that the flame-free answer principle be respected.

Indeed, it's quite impressive!
I've just found a return ticket GVA-CDG via ATH that gives 4770 miles for 345€
(As per WhereToCredit Chrome add-on with Expedia)

Baggage for *Gold

Hi there - I am a Star Gold flyer, looking to book a "GoLight" flight for the wife and I on Aegean. I read that I get 1 additional 23kg bag allowance as a *Gold (so 1 bag allowed). Does this mean that I get 1 bag for myself and 1 for my wife (2 bags total) if we are on the same PNR?

Hi!
There is no bag included in the go light fare.

So you'll get 0 (go light) + 1 (Star Gold) = 1
Your wife gets 0 (go light) + 0 (no gold status) = 0
So 1 bag in total. Now, you can book a flex ticket for one (2 bags) or both of you (3 bags) or you get a go light ticket and book one additional piece (1+1 bags).

Have a good flight!

All true but I'd add:

1) Make sure you are actually on an Aegean flight - not an "Olympic operated by Aegean". (Those include all the domestic flights operated with an Aegean aircraft. Search the forum for the problems those would cause you re: *Gold privileges).
2) If you need an extra bag, it's cheaper to book GoLight and add the bag later than to book flex.

So,
  • 36 hours after completing the India - SIN leg, the tier miles and award miles posted to A3. A3 now shows : "to upgrade to gold tier i still need 0 miles until 09/12/2017"
  • 48 hours after completing the India - SIN leg, the A3 website updated to reflect *G status.
The miles from SIN-US are yet to post.

Will post back here as to how soon it took for status to reflect on StarNet (he has upcoming travel on other *A carriers this week)

Aegean Mileage Runs & Deals

Thanks

Not really, but many deals are applicable for A3... What I do is look to the airlines that are known for good redemption with A3 (SK, SQ, AC too somewhat and TK in J).
I usually avoid the LH, SN, LX, OS deals except if they are premium.

One clue to determine if credit could be available is the Aegean retro-claim form. If the cities are not included, it will impossible to request credit if not received automatically. But inclusion doesn't guarantee you will get credit. Ultimately it will be up to United and their rules at the time you fly. I usually retro claim Express flights to my United account. But then they usually expire before I remember to use the points to buy something with the few points I have.

The pulldown list of airports has, in theory, nothing to do with getting credit or not. Flights that are flown by "wet leased" United Express do get it, bona fide United Express flights (code-shares) not. bensim's list may well be correct, I remember there used to be a list of flights previously posted that, IIRC, was supposed to be taken out of UA's site. The two lists should be compared by those directly interested.

A quick question. Does anyone know when Aegean will open booking of flights from Paris to LCA? I am looking to book after Nov 26, 2018 and they are only showing bookings until Oct 27, 2018. The message says that the flight schedule is not yet available. Thanks for any help.

From end of October the (2018-2019) winter schedule starts. I would expect that it will take till (close by) the start of the summer season (end of march) for those flights to become bookable. However you never know, the time has varied in the past. Theoretically it could be any time between now and march.

Booking a HER - ATH flight, seems like my only option is to credit miles to Aegean account. Can I not credit those miles to Aeroplan or another ff program?

Sorry, flight is operated by OA which is not a member of Star Alliance or any FF programme other than M&B

Ah makes sense thanks. Do you know if the 500 points for logging into the app promo is still going?
