With the evolution of the Miles&Bonus program, there are a number of threads on this forum that contain outdated information, plus a further set that - whilst describing the new program - contain conflicting information that has only been crystallised as we all discover how certain aspects of the program either work or are interpreted.
It is perhaps therefore unsurprising that many new members find searching through this myriad of threads a little daunting, and consequently they post a question in one of the FAQ threads.
This tends to irk those who've been around for a while who expect the new posters to at least do some basic searching before posting a question that has probably been asked many times before. This also causes the forums to become very congested and less easy to read through with the same question being asked and answered many times.
I am therefore creating a thread, which will be stickied, for anyone to ask any question they like about the M&B program where they are unsure or it's not obvious where they should be posting it.
There is no such thing in this thread as a stupid question, no issue with asking a repeat question, and any answers should be 100% flame-free. I will take a dim view of anyone that abuses a member or provides a less than helpful answer (such as 'do a search') to any question asked in here, because this is being created to benefit all of us so the other threads flow more cleanly. Thank you for your co-operation on this.
It might be that I move questions to more appropriate threads so they receive an answer more quickly, but if I do so I will always add a note to indicate where they originated, and ask that the flame-free answer principle be respected.

That's a LOT of miles to lose. If they are important to him, he might want to buy at least 550 status miles now (or do a quick mileage run). He could buy 1000 Tier miles for 100 Euro and this would mean he would be upgraded to Gold approx. three days after arrival in India and give him the benefit of Lounge access in India AND SIN on the way home (assuming he's in India for at least 3 or 4 days) and would mean those SIN-US miles would count for renewal - as well as the India-SIN ones! You don't mention the exact route but if he's in SQ PEY all the way, that's got to be around 11000 miles towards renewal and two lounge accesses, all for 100 Euro.

More importantly, the actual Gold status will not begin until those miles post. i.e. 3 or 4 days after India-SIN. This means that the status miles for SIN to US will disappear into a 'black hole' and WILL NOT COUNT for re-qualification next year. This seems to be the only inconsistency with the program in terms of mile posting dates being used rather than actual flight dates.

When I qualified for Gold in 2016, I thought the same would happen but A3 seems to have changed the system. The actual status took some time to show in the system but the date of the status was based on when the miles were earned so no miles were lost. This was not the case though when I reached silver from blue 2 years ago. The status was upgraded in the system after 3 days and the miles in between the dates of the qualifying flight and the status upgrade got lost.

This discussion about the mileage in between a qualifying flight and the status activation is interesting.
Let's say I have 3K miles and 2 A3/OA segments (Blue status). I then take an SAS Plus flight, ARN-HKG, which gives me 10K miles and is enough to bump me up to Silver. 3 days later I take the return leg (another 10K) but the Silver status hasn't yet gone through. A couple of days after the return flight, the Silver status earned from ARN-HKG becomes live.
If the system works as nikolask said, then I would be OK - the 10K miles from HKG-ARN would count towards my Gold qualification. However, if the system still works as Knobbgb stated, my 10K miles could go into a black hole and wouldn't count for qualification.
I actually have 6 days between the 2 legs on the HKG flight I've booked so I hope I'll be okay whichever way it works!

Flight on last day of status
Hi!
My friend can qualify for A3*S if he gets "2,253 Tier miles regardless of the partner airline Until 20/12/2017".
He will get the required amount of miles, however the last qualifying flight will take place on December 20th. So the miles will be accumulated several days later.
Does anybody know, if to get status miles need just to be flown or need to be accumulated by 20/12.2017?
From my research it seems that at worst he needs to call A3 Infoline. But he will gain status. Anybody can confirm?
Thanks for your help
Regards
Jakub

What matters is the departure time and date of the flight. So if his flight departs on the 20th December then that is date that it will show on the statement (or eventually will). It may, however, take a couple of days for the system to catch up, so if things don't look right on the 21st Dec, he should wait a day or so.

Does have anyone had experience with the service on flights from and to Yerevan ? In both Y and C please, is it an expedited meal ? Has the timing of those is really weird and at a time where few people might want to eat, I wonder what A3 is proposing.
