- Name of the hotel: Sofitel Beverly Hills

- What is your Le Club status? Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked Superior, upgraded to a Luxury Room with a view of the Hollywood Hills.

- How are the rooms? Very nice - big size and a massive shower in the bathroom (although no bath).

- What was good and what was bad?

Good: Staff were excellent, status was proactively recognised with a great welcome gift of champagne and strawberries, location was excellent for the Beverly Hills Mall and Cedar-Sinai hospital.

Bad: Breakfast was expensive and I wasn't impressed with the selection.

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge? N/A

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks? Voucher for champagne in the bar plus champagne and strawberries left in room.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return? If I was going to Beverly Hills then yes, definitely.

The top floor deck - this is not open to hotel guests any more and can only be booked for private functions. Such a shame.
FWIW I had no problem going up to the deck around 5pm which is when the corporate events normally end. There were a small handful of people up there talking in groups and no one bothered me. The views are excellent at that time on a nice day.

Sofitel berlin kurfurstendamm

Name of the hotel:SOFITEL BERLIN KURFURSTENDAMM

- What is your Le Club status? Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked a luxury Club and was upgraded to a Opera Suite (highest room category)

- How are the rooms? Massive suite: bedroom, living room, dining room, entrance hall, extra large bathroom and a guest WC.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:Great upgrade, very nice staff, very clean, lively and great for shopping neighborhood, nice and quiet Club lounge with bfast until 2.00pm on weekends, fantastic bed, Hermes bathroom amenities... Metro station right in front of the hotel.

Bad: The rooms need to be refreshed. Lots of traces and marks on the wooden floors and the walls.I booked the "pause gourmande" rate and was asked to make a reservation 24 hours in advance at the bar for it as the bakery needs that time to prepare the food. It turned out to be a very disappointing plate with a slice of plain cake, a chocolate lollipop and a tiny brioche. No real french patisseries.

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?Yes (included in the room category) The Club lounge is rather small with very limited food options in the afternoon (1 cake) and no champagne.

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?Elite welcome gift was a plate with 3 fruits. I did not like them and did not touch them. They were left untouched during the whole stay (4 days). Drink voucher for 1: choice of french and german wines. No champagne though no otherspecial perks.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return? very good value considering the upgrade. I would probably return though I think I'd favour a hotel more towards the former East side of Berlin

Sofitel Mumbai BKC

- Name of the hotel:Sofitel Mumbai BKC

- What is your Le Club status? Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes, pretty happy

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Superior Room--not sure if upgraded

- How are the rooms? The room I had was on the 11th floor--top floor where lounge is is on the 14th. The room descriptions for the non-suites are a bit vague and don't appear to be all that different so I don't really know if I was upgraded and didn't ask. Past experience in India is that you pay city tax on the rack rate of the room you are upgraded to so I was fine with not being upgraded. The room itself was quite large with very modern decorations. WC very large with separate bath and rain shower. The only annoyance with the room was a fairly small and awkward closet.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good: I had a late flight and was offered a late check-out of 6PM. A fairly good breakfast buffet. As a platinum you can have it in the lounge or restaurant--I went restaurant both times.

Bad: The service, as is common in India, was hit and miss. I find it a bit annoying that every time I used a facility, lounge, gym, pool, etc. I was either asked for my room number or had to write it and my name, room # and sign even though all these services were included. I felt I was constantly being checked to make sure I was not trying to cheat them somehow. The pool area isn't that great. A weird layout.

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge? Lounge was nice, but the food wasn't very good or plentiful.

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks? Given a drink voucher. Amenities in room were a small fruit and sweet tray.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return? Value for money quite good as this hotel is quite a bit cheaper than other 5 star offerings in Mumbai. I would stay here again for a short stay as it is close to the airport but would probably stay somewhere more central if staying more than 2 or 3 nights.

- Name of the hotel:
Sofitel Shanghai Hyland

- What is your Le Club status?
Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, generally.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Superior / not quite sure, but Superior Club Sofitel probably? (see good/bad)

- How are the rooms?
Small, not made better by bathroom layout. But clean / tidy; no signs of age or anything alike.
The bed seemed much harder than the usual Sofitel beds...

- What was good and what was bad?
Good:
- Location for tourism!
- Mention at check in that "you have already gotten an upgrade"
- Lounge
- generally friendly and helpful staff

Bad:
- Check-in lady "not sure" if I had lounge access; In general a bit of a lack of status recognition it seems (problems due to CdA Plat I guess).
Lounge access at least was cleared after checking my Platinum card thorougly, but other "VIP" treatment seemed absent. Except for a plate with 3 pieces of fruit.

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
Yes after double checking my plat card by several staff at check-in. The lounge is splendid! I really liked it up there, but sadly only had time for two breakfasts, never for evening cocktails. Breakfast spread was adequate and the egg menu lovely! Choice in main restaurant probably a bit bigger, but it never felt lacking of anything.

Curious side point: I was never ever asked about room number in the lounge. The lounge floor can be accessed straight from the main lift, no need to even walk by check-in. Next time I might just try to sneak in for evening cocktails while staying at another property and see what happens (only to see if it works of course!)

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
Fruit plate with 3 pieces of fruit, lounge access.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
For the price, location and lounge yes - if in Shanghai for tourism. If there for business or with status at another chain, I'd probably choose another hotel in hopes of a slightly bigger room.

- Name of the hotel: Novotel Southampton

- What is your Le Club status? Gold

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked 2 x Executive Room no further upgrade applicable.

- How are the rooms? Adequate. Beds not that comfortable.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good: Wide selection of restaurants in walking distance.
Rooms adequate for a one night stay.

Bad: Breakfast ingredients used were cheap. Coffee served at breakfast was inferior to the Nespesso coffee in the room.
Required to complete a long heath questionnaire at check in before being allowed to have access code to the pool. One questionnaire required for each room! Check in procedures slow, no online checkin option offered despite this hotel being on Accordion line check in list. Long check in waits noted later in day around 6pm.
Swimming pool very small, cold and over crowded

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge? N/A

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks? Voucher for one drink although 4 people in the two rooms presented with immediate comment when handed over without comment from me that Le Club only entitles card holder to one drink per card regardless of number of people in room(s). First time I've come across this interpretation of the drink benefit, usually receive at least two drink vouchers with dual room occupancy in Accor hotels (sometimes received 4 when traveling with my family without question). It may be the strict interpretation of the benefit but didn't make me inclined to spend money on food or drinks in the hotel.
Packet of 4 chocolates left in one of the rooms.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return? Possibly subject to price. At £88 per night per room inc breakfast fair value. Wouldn't want to pay more for the product receieved.

Sorry about the disturbance
I've had no issues with the new GM's policies.

- What is your Le Club status?
Platinum

- Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes!

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked: deluxe room (most basic)
Got: imperial suite (least basic)

- How are the rooms?
My 170sqm suite (one of two such units) occupied the space taken by 6 normal rooms on other floors, in the southeast corner of the building. Private terrace could be seen by craning from the Club Millésime's eastern side.
Everything in great condition, no glitches, no wear and tear. Genuine-looking artwork. Full-sized bottles of premium booze. Kitchenette is empty, I assume it is there for catered food to be served in the 6 person dining room, not for do-it-yourself cooking...

- What was good and what was bad?

Good: while at most hotels the suites are just more of the same, i.e. a larger space with the same furniture, this one had enough one-off details to make it feel special, especially in the living/dining areas. I like the staff at this hotel, I feel they are given a little more leeway to show their personality than at some competitors'.

Bad: got lost in the two corridors within the suite a few times; long walk to the bathroom; headed to plunge pool on my terrace in the morning, only to find it occupied (the terrace, not the pool) by the window cleaning crew

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
Having used the (rather posh) lounge in previous visits, I opted for the novelty and privacy of my room instead. Didn't make it to either afternoon tea or evening cocktails due to full schedule. Had breakfast in the main restaurant this time (pretty good, but some competitors have a more extensive spread).

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
Check-in lady in the lounge was rather playful, first announcing that the hotel was full <concerned look>, then that as a good customer I had been assigned their best room <smiles>. Only when I saw the double doors did I suspect it was not the expected corner room.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
Outstanding value. I shall return, but fear they won't be able to outdo themselves next time. I do note that the hotel's prices and occupancy rates have been persistently nudging up since its opening, even in the offseason. Here is hoping the prices won't reach SGS levels (probably its main competitor).

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked 4x standard twin and as there were only 7 of us got one room upgraded to a privilege room

- How are the rooms?
Nice

- What was good and what was bad?

Good: The priviledge room was a great size, we were there for my hen weekend and 8 of us had plenty of space for afternoon tea, the other twin rooms were a bit small but we were only there to sleep

Bad:

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
n/a

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
Got one drink voucher, apparently that's hotel policy for them regardless of how many are in the room, got upgrade but apart from that nothing

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
I booked this in the sale, I'd been before but was far more impressed on this occasion with their knowledge of Le Club benefits (the last time i went the person checking us is wasn't aware of le club at all...)
They also provided us with fresh milk for our tea that was much appreciated!
