Novotel Bristol Centre

- Name of the hotel:
Novotel Bristol Centre

- What is your Le Club status?
Gold at the time of stay

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Superior Family, Got Superior Family

- How are the rooms?
Fairly spacious but showing signs of age. The first room we had was dirty so we were moved to another identical (but clean) room.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Friendly and helpful staff
Rooms quite spacious
Reasonably cheap

Bad:
Our first room wasn't properly cleaned
Poor signage in car park. I had to go to reception to ask where I could park as all spaces for Novotel guests were taken (car park is shared with other companies). I was told I could park in any space at the weekend which was not obvious.

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
No lounge

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
Received drinks voucher for 1 person

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
Reasonable value. I would stay here again if the price was good.

Mercure London Staines upon Thames

- Name of the hotel:
Mercure London Staines upon Thames

- What is your Le Club status?
Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
No

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Classic Double room and received Classic Double room with river view.

- How are the rooms?
I think they must vary a lot because of the age of the hotel. Our room was quite spacious but an odd layout with the entrance and bathroom on a different level to the bed.

Our room opened on to a shared terrace, overlooking the river which would have been lovely in the summer. Unfortunately, the doors and windows were very draughty when closed so the room was cold and smoke from other guests on the terrace was coming in to our room.

There were also other maintenance issues with the room such as a loud noise when using the hot tap and poor drainage in the bath.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Friendly staff
Location

Bad:
Poor maintenance
The hotel is really showing its age

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
No Lounge

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
Drink voucher 2 guests given.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
We got a cheap rate through the Happy Monday deal but I would have been very disappointed if I had paid full price. I would probably not return unless the hotel had been refurbished.

Sofitel London Heathrow

- Name of the hotel:
Sofitel London Heathrow

- What is your Le Club status?
Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Classic Room and received Superior Room

- How are the rooms?
Modern, Spacious and comfortable with nice bathroom. Our room overlooked the part of the lobby with the connecting bridge to T5. It felt a little weird not to have an outside view. I would have preferred a view of the airport but I'm not sure if this is possible with the layout of the hotel.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Modern and stylish public areas
Friendly staff
Nice room
Super fast lifts
Excellent for anyone using T5

Bad:
Nothing

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
Yes. The lounge is large and comfortable and offers a complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea and evening drinks/canapes.

Breakfast was good with a selection of cold and hot food.

The Afternoon Tea selection was limited but very nice (scones and cakes, no sandwiches).

The selection of drinks in the evening was quite good with at least 2 brands of beer and several different spirits on offer. There were some cold canapes and also some hot samosas and chicken.

At other times only tea/coffee and soft drinks were available. It would have been nice to have some basic snacks.

The lounge staff were very attentive and helpful.

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
Free drinks voucher given. I didn't receive any welcome gift (chocolate etc) in the room that I have heard other platinum members have received.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
I booked an advanced rate and thought it was good value for money, especially with the lounge access. I would return but would try to avoid last minute prices.

Novotel Coventry M6/J3

- Name of the hotel:
Novotel Coventry M6/J3

- What is your Le Club status?
Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Superior Room and Received Superior Room

- How are the rooms?
Adequate and clean but a little dated.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Modern public areas
Reasonably priced
Cheap/Free parking

Bad:
Rooms a little dated
No-one on reception when we arrived (after 10pm). Had to wait a few minutes for someone to arrive.
No recognition of Platinum status

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
No lounge

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
Nothing. I didn't bother asking as it was only a short stopover. I wasn't charged for parking (usually £4) but I don't know if this was because of Platinum status.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
Good value. Would return for a 1 night stopover.

Novotel Birmingham Airport

- Name of the hotel:
Novotel Birmingham Airport

- What is your Le Club status?
Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes - Very

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Family Room and upgraded to Executive Room.

- How are the rooms?
Modern and quite spacious. Our room had free water and a Nespresso machine and overlooked the airport so we could see the planes taking off and landing which the kids liked.

There were couple of minor maintenance issues such as the bathroom door would not close completely and one of the electrical sockets was stuck on which was a slight safety issue with kids.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Modern room
View
Exceptionally helpful and friendly staff member at check-in

Bad:
No car park. There is a reduced rate for Novotel guests at a nearby NCP car park although this still cost £16 for up to 24hrs.

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
No Lounge

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
Drinks voucher, Gifts for the children, upgraded bathroom toiletries and slippers/robe.

Very good value as booked on Happy Monday deal. I would return.

Pullman Brussels Centre Midi

- Name of the hotel:
Pullman Brussels Centre Midi

- What is your Le Club status?
Platinum (earned)

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Classic, got Superior

- How are the rooms?
Modern and stylish - like the other areas of the hotel

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Location (if you want to be close to the Midi/South train station), modern style. Free movies!

Bad:
I didn't quite care for the separate toilet and bathroom (without toilet). There was no rubber thing to stop the door handle from damaging the bathroom door when entering. The Bose speaker is great, but I would have preferred a Bluetooth connection in addition to the wired connection.

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
No lounge.

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
Welcome drink voucher (glass of wine), welcome letter and amenities: big box of Speculoos, small box of Speculoos and some chocolates.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
Good value. Would happily return!

Novotel London Excel

Novotel London Excel

- What is your Le Club status?
Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Superior (Standard) and received the same.

- How are the rooms?
Spacious and clean like the other Novotels I've been to in the UK. However, the window faces the interior wall although there's a partial view of the river.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Friendly staff
Good location for Excel and east London
Breakfast limited but of nice quality
Had a bottle of water from the mini-bar and upon check-out it's complimented

Bad:
No upgrade
The key failed twice. Thankfully I needed it for the lift, otherwise I would only find out when accessing my room on the 6th floor...

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
No Lounge

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
Drinks voucher.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
Will return if I find the Happy Monday rate again. £40 for a standard room
and £60 for a suite can't be beaten.

Gold @ Pullmann Eindhoven

Name of the hotel: Pullmann Eindhoven (Cocagne)

- What is your Le Club status? Gold

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
No, very much disappointed

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a standard double. Got no upgrade. Hotel was completely sold out
- How are the rooms?
Room was nice. Nicely decorated. Glass wall between bathroom(shower) and room itself could be a problem for people that prefer privacy but I actually liked it.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Room was OK but that was about it.

Bad:
Status was not recognized at arrival. I had to mention this during check-in. Drink vouchers were provided and some extra snacks were promissed but not delivered until I reminded them of this.
Booked time for romance package (14th of feb): this included a bottle of champage that was delivered without an ice bucket, some fruits and 2 chocolate bars (the size of a merci chocolate bar). Very disappointed.

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
No lounge
- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
Only a beer could be chosen in the bar for the vouchers. Very strange. I suppose this was due to the carnival celebrations going on. (something the hotel failed to mention upfront)

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
Probably not.

Bathrobe

- What was good and what was bad?

Name of the hotel:
Sofitel New York

What is your Le Club status?
Gold

Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, absolutely.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked superior with queen bed, received luxury king on 3rd highest floor (27th). The upgrade was confirmed by email before arrival after online check-in was completed.

How are the rooms?
Typical US Sofitel. Large enough but a bit dated. Came with small couch and view to Chrysler building. Bathroom had both walk-in shower and bathtub, Lanvin bath amenities and bathrobes but no slippers.

What was good and what was bad?

Good: Friendly staff with proactive attitude. Location in Midtown Manhattan between the 5th and 6th Avenues close to everything couldn't have been better.

Bad: Requested tooth brushes and extra set of toiletries from housekeeping. Didn't arrive in one hour even if called twice. Went down to reception and problem was solved.

Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
No lounge here.

What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
Received welcome letter from GM, two drink vouchers good for champagne or other beverages, four chocolate pralines, fruit salad, still water (Evian) and mineral water (Perrier) in room. Late checkout was granted as requested until 3pm. Newspaper (The New York Times) was delivered to room every morning. GM also came to reception to welcome us personally.

Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
Around 300 euros per night, one pay the same for Sofitel in Paris and Amsterdam. I would definitely return.

We had a pleasant stay here last weekend. Platinum upgrade: two categories, from "Classic" to "Deluxe". More in the property's dedicated thread here.

Ibis Styles Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium)

Ibis Styles Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium)

What is your Le Club status?
Platinum

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
There is only one room type here, so upgrades are not possible. But we received one of the best rooms without asking (a corner room on the top floor, facing the woods).

How are the rooms?
Small with small bathrooms and very limited space for clothes, luggage or working. This hotel was previously a Mercure but rebranded a year or two ago, presumably because the rooms are so small. But the walls are solid and the beds, baths and showers are good quality.

What was good and what was bad?

Good: Friendly staff, especially the bar and breakfast staff. Location (the only hotel in town). Maximum possible Le Club recognition for a hotel of this category without needing to ask. ^ Little has changed here since our previous stays when it was a Mercure. The hot and cold breakfast buffet is very good for an Ibis -- possibly slightly less choice than before, but there are still several types of bread, an orange juicer and good coffee.

Bad:
Nothing worth mentioning.

Welcome drinks, amenities or any other special perks?
We received two drink vouchers that the bar staff automatically applied against the two most expensive drinks we had ordered. ^

Value? Would you return?
This time we paid around 110 EUR a night including breakfast for two. That's fair. We will return principally because it's the only hotel in a place we visit every couple of years, but will do so happily enough.

Ibis Southampton Centre

What is your Le Club status?
Platinum

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room with queen sized bed, don't believe upgrades are possible.

How are the rooms?
Reasonable sized room, standard for Ibis, decent bathroom and all in good condition. Fairly new beds (apparently). Received 3rd floor room (top floor here) and was quiet and clean.

What was good and what was bad?

Good: Friendly staff. Location is reasonable as within short walking distance to city centre. Decent full English breakfast available and clean breakfast area. Received drinks voucher without having to ask for it.

Bad:
Parking costs £ 6 / night and no in / out privileges (to my knowledge).

Welcome drinks, amenities or any other special perks?
Received one drink voucher.

Value? Would you return?
Good, usually quite inexpensive (around £ 54) and same location as the Novotel in Southampton (see separate thread). I booked very late (2 days out and still found it excellent value compared to other Accor chain hotels as well as the competition (my stay was £ 74 (room only) compared to the next best offer of over £ 110). I would indeed return and recommend the hotel. Clean, good and friendly staff, just a bit basic (as Ibis is), otherwise very good.
