Edit Maybe I should be worried about tomorrow: where will they get the crew to operate UA2? When I came over on UA1 on Monday, they were looking for three volunteers in Polaris to give up their seats for $3k. They needed them for pilots. They ended up involuntarily downgrading passengers. I didn’t think about it at the time, but presumably they would have used them for UA3866. If they were rescuing the plane from SIN, a cabin crew wouldn’t have been needed, right? Maybe Monday’s UA29 will be the crew for us tomorrow.

I have a head scratcher. I noticed that a 788 was flying as UA3781 on SFO-LAX-BWI last night and is currently in the air as UA3774 on BWI-SFO. The usual LAX-BWI redeye on a 737-9MAX ran as usual as is the usual morning BWI-SFO flight. The seat map for both 788 flights showed completely empty. Any thoughts on what these flights could have been for?
UA71 AMS-EWR 772 cancelled due to maintenance.
UA855 LIM-IAH 763 cancelled due to maintenance.

They didn’t say which, but PremiumPlus had open seats, so I imagine it was those.
I thought $3k was pretty pitiful given that I’ve seen fares at $24k on SFO-SIN. Few would pay that figure, so I imagine there were upgraded passengers in jeopardy.
The return flight went well. We landed early. I’m now in the Centurion Lounge all breakfasted up. I’ll climb back on ship 3961 in a few hours on my way through Denver to LAX.

Tomorrow's UA28 SIN-SFO has been outright cancelled and scheduled aircraft is doing UA3026 from SIN-HNL and UA3027 from HNL-SFO. Affected aircraft is N29984. Not sure why it was cancelled.

March 29, UA 59 FRA-SFO 773 returned due to lav issues and “soup” flowing through the cabin. More here at the AVHerald.
