Taxiing on the runway? Was that without tower clearance? That's another story.....it's great to see the experts that write for these news papers online place. At least get the lingo correct.

Should I not post cancelled flights for now? There were a few that have been cancelled today.

What happened here? Did someone start a new thread about UA35 and it got merged here?

Please do continue to post.

Yes. It would be more appropriate for that thread to be merged with United & Boeing: string of bad luck, or something else

I have subscribed to this thread because in 11 days' time I am flying on UA870 and cancellations of 77Ws in the days prior might be relevant. So no, don't stop posting.

UA35 was merged here as it was (to the best of appearances) a run of the mill MX . This thread has traditionally been a collection of reported cancellations/delays versus having multiple independent threads. On any given day there are multiple cancellations/delays. There is no difference in the UA35 post and any already in this thread and those in prior years.

Why would not any prior posts in this thread also??

There was pushback from some on UA35 being an independent thread and there seems pushback merging here -- the traditional location for cancellations/delays. Not sure there is a solution to please all, returning to the traditional approach seems best. Going forward standard (international) cancellations/delays will be merged here. Highly unusual ones, such as items falling off an aircraft, may be kept separate due to a high interest level.

UA79 EWR-NRT 789 delayed by 7 hours. Return UA78 NRT-EWR on 3/20 cancelled due to "unexpected disruption beyond United's control".
UA82 EWR-DEL 789 cancelled due to maintenance. Return UA83 DEL-EWR on 3/20 cancelled as a result.
UA85 TLV-EWR 78X cancelled due to crew time out.
UA802 HKG-LAX 789 cancelled due to maintenance.

Anyone know the story behind this? Seems very odd.

Added- looks like yesterday's UA934, the daytime flight, was delayed 11.5 hours, taking off at 9pm instead of 9AM
UA110 finally made it on schedule yesterday. Am still curious about the 4 day in a row cancellations if anyone has the backstory.

Good question. My guess: not enough aircraft. 9 out of 37 763 are not in service due to mx, meaning only 76% of that fleet is flying.

UA829 SFO-SYD 772 cancelled due to maintenance. Return UA870 SYD-SFO on 3/22 cancelled as a result.

UA847 IAH-SCL 13hr delay

Anyone know what happened to UA 847 last night? Was supposed to depart IAH at 830pm. Left at 10:05am. At SCL waiting for the plane to arrive and wondering what went wrong to cause a 13 hour delay. Thanks!

That's a problem with long, thin routes -- there's no Plan B at the remote outstation (yes, SCL is "remote" from UA's viewpoint).
