UA38 HND-LAX 78X cancelled due to maintenance.
UA952 MUC-ORD 78X cancelled as plane was used to ferry crew from TLV. See https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unit...1-muc-tlv.html.

I've been luckier at EWR, including once getting a key to a hotel room from the transfer desk (key to the room... not a voucher) after a connecting flight cancellation while in flight. That was a fist (and only) for me but colour me impressed.
A bus transfer? How many years ago was that?

May have been when the ORD ATS train was shut down in 2019-2021 during refurbishment.

Probably so which was basically my point. Hasn’t the whole FIS facility been recently rebuilt, too?

Yup. Haven't connected via the US since then. Try to avoid it entirely if possible and INT-INT transfers in most US airports is a PITA. Although it seems some airports are finally starting to check luggage through.

UA806 ICN-SFO 772 cancelled due to maintenance.
UA975 GVA-IAD 763 cancelled due to crew related scheduling disruption. Plane was supposed to do UA974 IAD-GVA today after arrival so that was cancelled as well.

Well, it has reconfigured, according to ORD website.

Major flooding in Dubai

There are exciting times in Dubai. I arrived last night to some light rain. There have been storms all day today, which caused major flooding. DXB was closed and may have just reopened. UA163, which left EWR last night, has been diverted to Muscat, where it now sits. It’s scheduled to leave in about 10 minutes for DXB. The return flight, UA 164, is showing on time tomorrow morning at 0155. The challenge will be getting from the hotel to the airport. Uber isn’t showing any cars and there aren’t any taxis either, but hotel management seems cautiously optimistic that things will clear up in the next few hours! Let’s see.

Update The departure from MCT has now been pushed forward by 30 minutes to 2100. I don’t think there’s a risk of a crew timeout; they have four pilots, the same number they have on the longer SFO-SIN flights.

There’s a fun quirk/glitch on the app. Ship #3017 is performing UA164 that departed EWR on Monday. The flight is two segments thanks to the diversion. EWR-MCT and MCT-DXB. I can check on the second segment and see the flight. It will be performed by ship 3017: all is well. However, if I pull down to renew, the ship magically changes from 3017 to 3004! That’s quite a trick.

It certainly is. It has been thundering for most of the day. I haven’t ventured outside, so it’s good—and scary—to see what’s going on. I’ve been hammering on the Uber app for over an hour: there are no drivers. If one does eventually appear that’s when I’ll brave this desert clime.

An Uber finally responded. The painter scheduled to leave Muscat in about five minutes. Let’s see if this story has a happy ending!

False alarm: the driver who accepted the ride says he can’t come because of flooding.

Another update: UA164, MCT-DXB, has been on a rolling delay since 2030. It’s now scheduled to leave at 2315 arriving into DXB at 0017, so I guess that UA163 will be delayed by 30 minutes or so.

The latest update is that MCT-DXB is delayed until 0500. I assume that the crew times out. UA163 is now scheduled for 0800 arriving at 1430.

Naturally enough, UA163 is canceled. The ship currently stuck at MCT will perform United 163 tomorrow. This flight is actually been delayed by three hours or so and is leaving. I believe at 4:30 in the morning. I suppose the good news for me is that I was switched to the nonstop flight on Emirates to LAX. At least I get home earlier than planned.

I KNEW this would bite me in the butt - just flew in to ZRH on UA 134 - no issues at all - flying back on UA 135 (same plane) on my GS requal mileage run - I chose this flight because the plane is the same - now it’s delayed 3 hours at least because they need a part - and there are no other options to get back until tomorrow - typical UA!

I can’t imagine what broke in flight - just my bad luck I guess…. At least the lounge is nice - I wonder if it’s open 24 hours?

ETA - something strange going on - my flight back to EWR will now be on the broken plane from ORD and not the plane I came in on - can’t believe I’m doing this….. They are taking my plane and sending it back to ORD on time - leaving me stuck here - I guess ORD is more important!

As I’m watching my plane taxi away past the broken one from ORD my only happiness is realizing that UA may have to pay me to make GS due to EU261

What a total joke - UA canceled my flight home after taking my plane to fly it to Chicago - now I’m stuck in economy to London hopefully connecting to the last flight to get home - no good deed does unpunished!

They saw what you thought of their food and decided others would appreciate having that airplane more than you would. 🤪

Well - they must not hate me that much they had a *A cart waiting for me upon arrival at T2A - they escorted me through security then we took the “rolls Royce” out to terminal B. - made it just in time to not give my seat away….

Even got to take the rolls in the elevator! They made it clear that this wasn’t a UA thing - it’s a service for *A - clearly as UA could care less about this 1k - and GS in 8 hours….. that will be the topic of another thread - was so appalled at how UA treated anyone who wasn’t GS in ZRH….

fyi - economy sucks on LX too - but the chocolates still rock!
