Did you look at near term flights I am seeing dinner and it has been saying that for me for the last 2 years. The recently updated October/November flights are showing snack, my January 2025 flight shows dinner. Not sure whats going on here, but I am suspicious, in particular how UA has been defining snack since the 800/900 change rolled out.

I'm on ORD-DEN right now. Yes, snack basket on a 2hr plus hub to hub flight on a 757.. I saw snack on the amenities page and thought it was a mistake. Should have grabbed lunch in the lounge.
OMG.. They are now charging for snack boxes in first. This is crazy.

I take that route, in addition to ORD-DCA, EWR and LGA (and vv) and have never been charged for the snack box. Is it because I am GS? Don't think so. I see them giving others the boxes for free and I don't think they are GS. They also gave my non-status travelling companion one on several flights.

I was on ORD-DEN on the 5am flight a couple days ago. Of course too early for the Club or for really anything in the vicinity of the departure gate to be open... we didn't even get the snack basket on the flight. Person next to me asked for a snack box (they said they thought this flight had breakfast, I said not anymore) and they were told how much it would cost. Plus the flight attendant (wearing a couple of pins on his uniform that have stirred up controversy these days on other airlines... hadn't ever seen that on UA) took the opportunity for anybody nodding off or going to the restroom to snap up their drinks even if not finished. That's fine, he just had to bring me 3 different coffee mugs. Had more/better service on my 35 minute long connecting flight on a Skywest CRJ to Scottsbluff.

So a GS or 1K in coach can get them for free but those in F can't? Doesn't make too much sense to me. I'd have them charge me and then call UA CS and they would probably give me a $25 CS voucher.

I've never been denied a free snack box in F, and many times offered it proactively if I didn't like the choices left or if there was no other service.

Rules for domestic F dinner service and "meal upgrade"?
Flying IAD-LAX, flight departs 10:25 PM, and includes dinner service
Do they serve dinner in F now on ALL domestic flights regardless of the departure time?
From website (for flights over 1190 miles)

All flights over 900 miles, departing after 11am. [edit: actually I see some 1030am departures showing lunch as the meal; the cutoff for breakfast vs. lunch (same as dinner) may be 10am]

Also, what is the "Meal Upgrade" i keep reading about?
Meaningless hype.

Is there a difference in service in F between LGA and EWR to ORD? On EF, LGA-ORD shows as snack, EWR has N. I realize neither is a meal, just wasnt sure if there was something more than the snack basket from LGA. Thanks.

used to be there were some exception routes, mostly hub-to-hub, that received meals even when below the threshold. If those exist anymore, there are very few. Pretty sure EWR-ORD was one of them before the most recent change.
