The sandwiches are new - don't think they are on every route yet. Would not count on it ...

Given that DEN-IAH is the same length as DEN-SAN and both out of DEN ... probably a chance it will have it.

I long for the days when IAD-BOS (413 miles) on the DC-10 was a hot dinner. But now it's "Too short for FAs to provide a meal service."

It is so bad out of Denver on many routes! I have flown DEN to ORD and LAX for years. It is sad they don't serve meals in F anymore between these major hub routes. It can be hard on a tight connection to get food, especially in DEN where lines get bad during banks. One would think they would at least serve a meal on major hub to hub routes in F. It is so funny United tries to come across as a "premium" airline.

I cant find the original source, but the new first class hot snacks but not a meal are in first class for hub-to-hub DEN to IAH, ORD and LAX and reverse. Distance does not play into it, as I understand, Just these hub-to-hubs. And if youre not in first, nothing has changed; same old, same old.

There are certain things UA does well and other things...not so much. UA has an industry leading app. Period. But, food is the opposite end of the spectrum. I also fly DL regularly and you can't compare the two airlines...DL has much better food. Food on UA is a complete embarrassment. I guess UA has made a bet that food just doesn't matter. As I have said in other threads, experience has taught me to never rely on UA to feed me. I always make sure I eat before i board or carry on food. Most of UA food isn't fit for a junior high school cafeteria.

Remember when UA added hot meals on all ORD-LGA flights? That was cut during Covid and never came back. They were able to do a full dinner service on a 16 cabin F class with no issue on the 1.5 hour flight.

I even recall them doing it in 2019 when I flew a 777 between ORD-EWR

I remember (and miss) back in the late 2010s when "snack" on United meant a light cold meal such as a noodle dish, and the snack basket was coded as "Refreshments"

But I agree, the snack basket is worse and catering in general is not in great shape.
