I have been on many flights from west to east easily reaching 700 mph and higher with favorable tail wind. I think a few years back, a VS flight exceeded 800 mph crossing the Atlantic.

Looks like UA is paying some fees to Canada for using its airspace.

UA4705 DEN-RIC, safety pin popped during push back. Sitting ducks here until the nose gear has been inspected.

2nd push back then back to gate/ramp already this morning, and it's only 10 am here.

UA1984, LAX-IAD, on 2 October 2022. Delayed two hours out of LAX due to crew rest issue. About two hours into flight, diverted to DEN to offload a mentally unstable passenger who had gotten violent; passenger had to be restrained and was locked in the lav.

Flight arrived five hours late into IAD.

Anybody know what happened to UA 631 today (IAH-BWI)? It diverted to IAD and is currently on the ground but United.com and EF both don't give a reason for the diversion. Maybe that data will eventually appear. UA is allegedly going to fly the plane up to BWI. Curious why they would divert to a hub when they're so close to the scheduled destination unless it's maintenance related.

Oct 29: LAX-EWR UA2473

The original plane had a major bathroom issue, which I won't go into details overlords at Chicago agreed and a new plane was swapped in. Plane departed around 2am in the morning.

Only flight left in the terminal at the time. UC closed promptly at 12:15am
Rough night for a lot of people.

Can’t find the delay thread on phone so this is the closest I’ll get. Really uncool situation at LAX - flight to LAS delayed 2.5 hours due to engine issue (made it to runway). Go back to gate. Go back to UC. Walking to gate 84 (a hike) and hear over PA at 30 minutes before departure time everyone must be on plane or seats given to standby.

Im barely in the 80s terminal and run for it. Give gate agent an earful that was very uncool. Her response - we weren’t really going to give up your seat as I’m practically collapsing (literally)

This flight is now delayed over 12 hours. It has gone mechanical twice and now looks like they are trying for a third mechanical. They passenger had to wait overnight. Flight left gait this morning made a quick u-turn back to the gate. WTH? Did they not fix the plane in 12 hours? Why not get these people a new aircraft? Our little grandkids are doing this flight. This grandma is not happy with UA at the moment.

Now waiting for the flight to time out again so they can cancel again. Ugh. Very glad I do not fly this airline myself.

Anyone with inside information on why they would just send a broken aircraft out again and again?

It's possible someone has more information as to specifically what systems malfunctioned (there are some UA pilots and others on the board), but it's just going to be a case of "ugh, I thought we fixed that". Surely at some point in your life you have tried to fix something, only to discover that the fix didn't really work. Or something else broke, etc.

UA is obviously doing what they can to operate the flight, but sometimes equipment breaks. It happens on any carrier - I think the biggest mistake a lot of people seem to make is taking a single experience on one carrier and generalizing "carrier A is always like this". You can find people with the same feeling about Delta or American.

FLIFO for anyone curious.. seems like they have indeed had quite the time.

Hanging out on the tarmac in ogg

Landed over an hour ago and waiting for a gate
left den 40 min late probably didn’t help

maybe another reason to fly a narrow body - more gate options

wonder how many gates here can fit a 777

So any UA FTers on the go today (Wednesday) or Thursday seeing great collections of cancelled/delayed flights posted with "5 of 7" hubs under waiver? Not seeing many posts to this thread....

No, but DEN did start running into problems this evening with deciing and visibility issues. Believe multiple flights are eating overnight delays now due to crew timeouts when they couldn't get out for 2-3 hours.

And I expect tomorrow (technically today) will be much worse, at least based on the FAA's initial outlook for the air system operational plan tomorrow. DEN will have to deal with cascading effects from this evening's problems. And with C90/EWR likely to start seeing impacts, will probably start to see more system level disruptions.

Thoughts and prayers to UA staff, with ORD and DEN hardest hit (globally) today during the holiday rush. https://flightaware.com/live/cancelled

SEA is a mess today, many delays and cancelations. UA gate agent claims takeoffs are limited. FAA site https://testfly.faa.gov/flyfaa/usmap.jsp shows SEA green. Is there a better source of an airport status?

Freezing rain is severely limiting departures. Guess what happens to arrivals when planes can't depart? Remember on the worst day of NE US blizzards, the FAA would show no arrival delays! Because there are no flights left to be delayed!

There are departure delays, however.
Maybe FAA includes canceled flights when averaging, with many cancelation this will make the result smalles.
