1/27 MCI-ORD B737-900ER - :tu:. Choice of water, OJ or a mimosa. Nice given the three hour delay …

0/2 on SLC -EWR and EWR-CPT. Been awhile since I didn’t even get a cursory “champaign?” on a Polaris flight. They were trying to board quickly after a short delay, but the process wasn’t that rushed…

Today mainline CLT-IAD: water or OJ
Express/Mesa IAD-CLE: F/A handed each person a standard 16.9oz bottle of Dasani water (this was a first for me)

E175? The micro bottles of water are pretty standard -- either handed out or pre-placed on seats -- but the full size ones are very hit or miss

Water or bubbles on tray, plus bottle of water in cupboard, both ways on IAH<->SYD

Feb 4
EWR-FLL
Water only. Flight on time. Y 60% full. No excuse for not offering full bar.

Bubbles or water on SYD-IAH today

FriendlySkies Feb 4, 2024 7:30 pm

2/4 DFW-IAH CR9 - water only
2/4 IAH-MCI B737-MAX 9 - water or bubbles

IAD-LGA this week. Departed gate on time and PDB was a bottle of Dasani. Normal size, not the small thing. But then we went to the penalty box for 45 minutes. Literally the second the captain announced our 45 minute hold the FA at the front of the ERJ175 ran to the back of the plane never to be seen again. Once the captain started the first engine (right at the 42 minute mark) she came back to the front and took her seat. Abysmal "first class" service.

Really bad on a flight like this. They should have offered whatever you wanted.

Did you ask for something else & were refused?

"I don't have anything else open right now."

This is crucial here, as we ought to separate into a few different categories/possibilities here, IMO:

1) no PDB offered
2) no PDB offered but water bottle at seat
3) tray with water, OJ, and bubbles (or tray with water & bubbles) but other drinks provided upon request
4) tray with water, OJ, and bubbles (or tray with water & bubbles) and any other drink request refused

Simply posting "water & sparkling wine" likely only refers to the two choices being offered on the tray that's being carried down the isle by the FA.
It doesn't shed any light on whether that same FA would have brought anything else if asked. I completely understand an FA doing it this way, if it is his/her experience that "water & bubbles" covers 80+% of what passengers want...AS LONG AS they're willing to go back into the galley and fill other requests.

The issue is the consequences if you ask for other options. We live in world that there’s backlash for something simple. You invite the FA to possibly go off on you if u ask for a screwdriver for a PDB on an early flight. Sad to say I’m scared to DEATH to ask. My biased opinion is that was the outcome management wanted to create.
