PDB back! Experiences.
 

12/24 LAX-HNL and 12/29 HNL-LAX: Water, prosecco or OJ. Nice crews, especially on HNL-LAX (much younger than the median, attentive and efficient).

Last three Polaris TATLs in December: zero PDBs. I asked about it on the most recent flight because I genuinely wondered if it had gone away. "Late boarding" was the reason given, though there were a bunch of FAs hanging out in the galley chatting throughout the boarding process.

Last Friday IAD-xxx ERJ175 I got a PDB of my choice. First time ever since they brought back PDBs that I've gotten my choice on an Express flight. Great FA and she offered another drink in air (as expected). Flight was only 58 minutes.

99% of the time ERJ175 Express flights offer zero PDB for me - not even water. The return flight to IAD had zero PDB and almost no service in the air "due to turbulence" which was non-existent.

EWR to MEM 1/13/23. Water or sparkling. Sparkling is Gambino Italian champagne. Just what you would expect leaving out of NJ.

1/15 UA 1062 LGA->IAH Water at the last minute. No time pressures, only 3 rows of first.

Jan 15 - EWR MCO 4;07pm water only, mentioned prosecco and it was served no questions. Great service in the air.

Jan 18 MCO EWR 8:04pm water and prosecco proactively offered. Great service in the air as well.

1/18 EWR to MCO no PDB but good service once in the air.
1/19 MCO to EWR same.

Absolutely nothing on UA 875 SFO-HND, other than the bottle of water.

So premium.

I've been getting PDB offered on every flight recently, even had FAs offer to hang my winter coat!

What I don't get is the inconsistency in getting water as PDB on a long haul international flight. Sometimes they offer it first alongside prosecco, sometimes on demand, and sometimes they tell me drink from the bottle stored at the seat. Entirely a first world issue. :)

1/24 UA 2331 IAD-RDU A-319: OJ or Water

LAS-LAX UA 625 on 1/24. Entire F cabin offered drink of your choice by awesome FA. This is typically a stingy route for drinks.

My only complaint. My Bacardi/Diet came with Lemon and not Lime. (Kidding, not a complaint)

My flights IAD-ORD-HND all offered PDB, though ORD-HND only had water or sparkly (no OJ offered). Return was in Y so nada there, though as a 1K I had no issues with multiple booze pours and had several FAs running commentary as how a 1K should have a better idea of what snacks are available (I explained I hadn't flown Y in years, which is 100% true for mainline).

1/25 DEN EWR 787-9. Water and OJ offered. I asked for Prosecco, and it was served.

Inflight service excellent with many refills for entire cabin.

I usually ask for a Diet Coke. A number of FAs say that they can serve that after takeoff. I say that I would really like one now and it's policy that they can give me one. Many do come back with one "reluctantly". One FA actually went to the captain to report me. He came to my seat and asked if I was going to be an issue on this flight. Unbelievable. Thought I was going to be history. I told him that I think his FA overreacted. Luckily, he believed me and that was it. Afterwards, my seatmate said that she regretted not telling him that I was polite and not aggressive.

EWR-based gang, I mean mob, I mean crew? :D

Don't want juice or water? Well it would be a real shame if anything happened to your nice seat assignment there.

First flights of the year for me—

UA2391 MCI-DEN B738 :td: — the flight wasn’t full and we sat at the gate for several minutes with nobody boarding due to the light load. Crew talked in the galley and didn’t do PDBs.

UA604 DEN-SYR A319 :tu: — The Purser offered a choice of water, OJ or sparkling wine and offered to make mimosas. :tu:

1/22 LAX - DEN UA1547 B777HD - Full selection of PBD and very good service throughout the flight.

1800 ORD-SNA PDB but no alcohol
 

Flight 1800 ORD-SNA 1/28/23 PDB offered but only water and orange juice. I said something about holding out for sparkling wine and she laughed nicely.

Great and funny captain speech before flight. Gate attendant politely enforced pre boarding limited which was nice to see, they had a good system.

...and had the captain come ask if you were going to be a problem?

Wait -- UA flies DEN-SYR non-stop??

EDIT: checked myself and indeed they do! Well I'll be darned.

Last night EWR-BOS for the first time post pandemic ... full PDB service. Coming through asking for choices.

Yep and mainline to boot! Nice to enjoy a PDB and mainline..!

It is the inconsistency

2/16 SAN-SFO - offered water or sparkling wine. Another pax requested a beer was told not until we were in the air. I had water
2/16 SFO-LAS. Nothing offered. Flight had been delayed but so was SAN-SFO - same aircraft. FAs standing around and chatting so no rhyme or reason why no PDB
2/19 LAX-SAN Whatever I wanted as a PDB. I had sparkling water and others had vodka sodas. Aircraft left early.
