Water or bubbles IAH<->EWR, including a 7am flight.

According to a few United employees, the welcome beverage should be available upon request including your choice of beverage. I have since been asking for a Stella on most flights (within reason and time of day) to test the waters. I can't stomach sparkling wine most of the time, and it tends to make my stomach upset. Wine is not friendly to me. Sadly this has been met with some rather obnoxious reactions like I am asking for something forbidden, or rude.

I miss the days of the á la carte PDB/welcome beverage. Sadly too many FA's have either forgotten about the past, or are new and young enough to not be familiar with it.

All I want is to be loyal to a truly full service airline. "The world's best airline".

I always ask for a PDB bloody mary, and while my request is occasionally declined, I have never once received any obnoxious reactions.

12/10/2023 FCO-IAD B763 :tu: choice of water or sparkling wine.

MileTrek Dec 19, 2023 11:29 am

12/16 ORD-MCO 2:15pm departure, choices were initially sparkling wine or a white claw (full can) but my seatmate got a bloody mary so you could have anything

12/25 DEN-MCI UA2232 A319 :tu: Purser brought around a tray with water, sparkling wine or OJ.

EWR-LAX 12/26 on a 777 (ua 1190). Flight boarded exactly on time, no PDB. I understand when we board pretty late but come on with this crap 🙄

Update: not the focus of this thread but our pre ordered meals were also not available.

12/20 EWR-AMS. No pdb. Boarded on time, no reason not to.

SNA-EWR early morning flight this week. Mimosas brought around. People who asked for just sparkling were accommodated. I asked for bloody mary, was told that it was too busy in front. However, after we started taxi, FA brought me bloody mary.

DFW-IAD sparkling wine and water only. Boarded in 10 minutes (starting 40 minutes before departure). Asked for wine and was told when we get in the air.

I hate the pre pour - so wasteful.

Certainly looks like AA is emulating UA with only 2-3 PDB options. Sad

Flight 2626 SFO-IAD 1/11. Currently delayed over an hour and the FA refusing any sort of PDB other than water. Total garbage.

kirkwoodj Jan 15, 2024 11:16 am

SFO-IAH yesterday. water only

You have to fly Delta if you want better service. I don't often get to fly Delta as they are too small in the market I live in. I flew Delta from CWA to MSP on a 30 minute flight and was given a Bloody Mary (in actual glassware) for PDB with a smile and offered another in the air. So friendly. I flew United from SFO to DEN on a 787 and we were not even offered water. It is really bad on United right now. They have little incentive to compete though as there are so few airlines and American isn't any better.
