All of my recent flights had PDBs (IAD-BTV-IAD, IAD-RIC-IAD, IAD-EWR-PVD/BOS-IAD). Most had the FAs bringing a tray of juice, water, and sparkling wine but would get anything else you asked for. I will say that a few of the flights had no other drink service in F (I get that IAD-RIC makes little sense given it's 20 minutes in the air, but IAD-BTV didn't offer and is well over an hour).

IAH-EZE: No PDB offered. However, FAs were very proactive in keeping drinks topped off once airborne.
EZE-IAH: Choice of water or sparkling wine served in proper cups. |
Would u push back if u politely refused when asking for a drink of choice for PBD given the lack of protocol? The passenger is at a serious disadvantage in this climate. If u get a mean FA lord knows what they’ll do.

Hmm. So far in this thread, no push back explicit meanness but probably 50/50 as to whether a given FA will be willing to satisfy the request of a drink of choice.

Ah - forgot about the obstreperous FA behavior from your earlier LAS-ORD flight.

After getting in trouble for quietly pressing for a Coke Zero PDB last year, I now just bring my own drinks onboard and never ask for anything. It's easier that way. I too, got a lecture from a senior crew member, along the lines of; we can have you removed for being disruptive. I never raised my voice, all I did was say that I didn't like anything they were offering, so could I please have a Coke Zero because I was parched. I was told to either take something from the tray or I'd get nothing. I said, "OK then, I'll take nothing". That really PO'd the FA, who then wouldn't talk to me the rest of the flight.
Recalcitrant would better describe my FA. It was her way or the highway. |

And today: SAN-IAH water, juice, sparkling wine, mimosas. I asked if once we were in the air I could have a coffee and asked if I wanted with my mimosas as a PDB. Yes, please!
This is service. Yes, will be writing in with kudos for Paolo and Heidi! Happy United traveler today. (Amd the egg fritatta was very good - good leads the way!) |
No PDB IAD-LHR on 3/18. :td:
Three of the seats around me declined eating dinner in favor of sleep. A side effect of Kirby Kwality! |
No PDB on MSY-IAH noon departure. Would be surprised if these FAs do anything the whole flight. Breaks a nice long streak of PDBs.
|
TUL - DEN no PDB but service in flight excellent.
|
What erks me the most are the FAs literally standing around in the gallery doing nothing but chatting with each other. If it was a full flight and no time than I’d let it pass. I politely asked for a morning screwdriver and they got upset that I interrupted their conversation. U can imagine my reaction. U have all the time in the world
