SFO to HNL -- aircraft assignment in Summer / Aug 2022

Hello, just looking to book some flights from SFO to HNL for this August. I can see all flight 1175 are scheduled with 777-300ER with the premium plus seats (but sell as Econony+) in August, but how often do they swap these AC with those that without premium plus seats (ie HD 777-200)?

And how many 777-200 have they retrofitted premium plus??

Thanks.

The HD / Hawai'i 772s are not presently operating but are expected to return in a few months. There are other 772s, but they are used on Hawai'i less frequently. UA is expected to use the HD/Hawai'i 772 to Hawai'i and any aircraft assignments should be consider suspect at this time.

UA has not been offer PremPlus from SFO to Hawai'i given UA more flexibility to change aircraft.

There have been some rumors the Hawai'i 772 may get retrofit in the future -- perhaps with Premiumlus.

UA is already showing the 772HD on SFO-OGG for March, with the 77W remaining on SFO-HNL.

Aircraft assignments for August are essentially theoretical at this point.

Yikes, hope that means it's an error.

Any chance they’re doing an interior refresh on these birds during the grounding? The last few I was on pre-grounding were looking a bit ragged.

Almost certain OP means the Polaris 772 (which is an upgauge from the 788 presently scheduled for most of March). The domestic 772, of which most are the non-ER version, does not have the range to fly from the west coast to Europe.

Great news - more Polaris seats and lie flat seats as a % of total. Please shoo away the 737s from SFO-Hawaii as well…

Agree that overall this is good news.

...And spill it down the line for the rest of us as well. These 777s to Hawaii replacing the 737s. Those 737s replacing some of the longer 175/170 routes. Those 175s replacing CR7/550. CR7/550 replacing CR2/145s.

Win-win all the way around, as far as I'm concerned. (I'd enjoyed 550s and 175 from my airport for over a year, but those wretched CRJs are back this winter and spring like a festering boil--and all over the Midwest).

Domestic 772 also consist of 4 77O that are actually ER, and they have PTV throughout the entire plane

Yes, it is Polaris 772. I'm scheduled on it mid-April. They are resuming direct flights, SFO-CDG (UA990) at the end of March.

But does Polaris 772 mean PW 772? UA also has a bunch of GE-powered 772s.

No, Polaris 772 does not mean PW 772. Actually it means most likely not PW 772.

But for those of us fortunate enough to not usually be afflicted by RJs, or at least not the E145s / CR2s (small handful of times a year for me, generally, thankfully!), it means for the rest of the year the likelihood of Polaris equipped widebodies goes down, and the likelihood of dorm J seating goes up.
