I like the UA seats better, even though they're jammed together. HA does have better aisle access at 2/3 v.s. UA's 1/2.

I was looking at an ORD-OGG flight in May on a 777 with a 1-2-1 seat map. If the grounded 777s come back, is there likely to be an aircraft change during a weekend schedule change to these planes that are not all aisle access?

The HA lie flats in my opinion are some of the very worst out there. Better drinks. Better service. Terrible seat. And I have a near 100% upgrade rate on UA. On HA - it is a ha ha.

where are the 772s going? I really like them more than the 787s. Anyone else have any route changes putting a 772 onto their schedule rather than off their schedule?

These aircraft adjustments could be a signal that UA is planning to have fewer PW 772s on hand than expected (or none at all), at least for the spring.

I thought the PW planes were already still a ways away so these were GE planes being knocked off. If not then it makes sense. Seems like I can’t find those GE 772s anywhere these days

My SFO-IAD in mid-April went from 777HD to 788 (which is what I was hoping would happen) so I wonder if it's going to take longer than they anticipated to get the HDs back in the air.

That's possible. It might also be a case that they never started narrowing down the aircraft type until now. IOW, the schedule may have been based all along on the 772 HD being there simply as the default.

Regardless of when they originally expected to get the 77Gs back in the air, this is definitely true.

Some manager probably said: "Get started on pulling all of the 77Gs out of the schedule"

FWIW:

And excerpts from UA's Q4 earnings report (emphasis mine):

However, as the year progresses, United expects to nimbly ramp up capacity by ungrounding 52 Pratt & Whitney-powered Boeing 777s, as demand returns, which will yield improvements in the airline's gauge and aircraft utilization.
We look forward to beginning to return the Pratt & Whitney 777s to service this quarter and getting the full airline back to normal utilization — as we ramp up along with demand this year.

Do the UA P&W 777s have the RA/5G issue that so many newer 777s do?
