How about getting the site to work. Traveling in Japan I get a redirect loop... since it's a Japan IP address, the system redirects to the Japan site, then it checks my cookies, sees my English language preference and redirects to the US site, then it sees the Japan IP address...etc., etc.. Only way to get access is to delete all my cookies and access the site. Have to do this every time I access the site.
Too much of hassle so I booked on SQ instead. |
Due to a death in the family, we have to fly to SFO on short notice, and we cannot stay long. Of course, United wants an arm and a leg for paid flights, so I looked for award travel. Thankfully, saver economy is available each way. However, not on the CLE-SFO-CLE non-stops, which would be ideal. On a hunch, I checked the "old" website. Sure enough, it shows saver economy on the non-stops! Booked 'em, Dano!
RNE, dumbfounded. |

RNE, dumbfounded. Is the fare bucket actually different on the two sites? Or is it just showing "not available" for those flights on a search? I have noticed that most likely nothing will show regardless of how one searches, unless I am in expert mode and clicking on the details of each flight option, looking to see if that fare bucket has inventory. |

Just tried a domestic search (holiday flights) with RPU upgrade option chosen. Outbound shows three columns: Economy, Economy + RPU, First. Of course no RPU flights available at this time so Economy and Economy + RPU flights show the same price but the RPU column shows a yellow question mark and a notification that the flights will be waitlisted. No problem. I select my outbound.
On the return ALL flights show the same three columns but the Economy + RPU column shows "Not Available". Not even the same price with the yellow icon as per above. Silly website. I'm assuming I can book the ticket as normal in economy and apply my RPU after the fact on the old website. -RM |
New Website Only?
Up until yesterday I've been using the legacy United website since I found the "new" one unreliable. Today I am unable to access the old site and in two web browsers am automatically taken to the new one. Is this the case for everyone?
In 10 minutes of using it: 1) I did a "Flexible Date" search for a roundtrip ps flight in January. I requested nonstop only but the calendar shows the lowest one-stop fares instead of nonstop. 2) The default starting airport always pops up as JFK. Since that doesn't exist in United world anymore is there a way to change that? I'm dreading this new site. |
RIP CO.com :(
There's so many issues with the new site. Unreal that we can't use the old site anymore. |

And, I agree, the new front page stinks. (I wouldn't call it a new website, its just new wallpaper pasted on top of creaking backend stuff.) Lipstick on a pig, and an ugly shade at that. |
It's pretty annoying that there are gaping holes in the new website yet they're forcing it on us.
For example: Do a search for an upgradeable (Coach to Business) TATL fare with GPU. Website returns S fares (not upgradeable). That's useless. No longer can do a mixed cabin search on a roundtrip (coach outbound, business return). This means that the fare class search consistently throws errors if you want to look for W, V, P fares. What a pain. |

Oh, wait. If I start by searching for business, I'm offered "economy lowest" "business lowest" or "first". |
Looks like the trusty link I've been using is gone as well as it now re-directs to the new site :(

As an old IT guy, I would say this website is still in testing.
They should be embarrassed that this has been released to the public. |

This works on the app, except for some reason when I searched on a 3-class INTL flight it only offered me economy or business, not first. The trick is that you need to start your search by looking for economy, and then when you select a flight it offers you the choice of economy, unrestricted economy or business, but not, in the case I just checked, first.

I can confirm the technique of using Chrome incognito and going to ual.com no longer gets one to the "old" website.

The new web site is HORRID, and has tons of bugs still, which have been documented. WHY are we being forced to it? Its not like the old web site is JFK and the new one EWR...or is it? :-P
