Is it possible to find information on R space on the new page?

Yes. You need to enable expert mode and click "details" under the flight information. Or search for upgradeable flights - same basic effect.

That's unacceptable. Hang up and call again.

I might even complain to 1kvoice if I got the agent's name.

Perfect, thanks very much.

- My current problems include

1.When on the English version of the website in Japan for some reason as I move for ward with the transaction the site does back to Japanese characters.

2. Even thought I state my preferences in Japan as American English the site always defaults back to local and Japanese language

3. I have had issues -one today changing a segment, got to the payment section then the site gives an error message to call reservations. On checking the instead of the single sector adjustments both sectors had been up graded to the higher fare selected in my change ($6000 ad collect) and loss of seat allocation. After finding someone at GS who new what they were doing it resulted in a the small fee change indicated on the website plus the change fee

first they fixed the PQD and RDM listings w/ partner flights ... my ineligibles with LH on 016 tickets went away and showed proper mileage. Now back to showing ineligible
New low this p.m. Looking for BLR flights for next year and a $3k D-class o/w fare apparently earns $560 PQD and corresponding miles  really UA
This is so wrong it is not funny anymore and apparently UA doesn't care a damn about it.

I'm sure this has been posted, but I hate the one way pricing. Am I the only one who likes to see a trip total? It just saves a few clicks to see the total initially..

Well as long as they have widgets, who cares about broken functionality

I'm sure there's some data out there showing that customers are more likely to buy when they've invested the two extra clicks necessary to see the total price.

I don't like it either. The price of the individual segments is basically meaningless to me most of the time.

I just use google flights nowadays - it shows exactly the same prices and fares (and shows the total from the beginning), and redirects to united once you've selected your flights.

Same boat here.

So while the new site looks better than the old one, I'm not sure how much of an improvement it really is. Visually, yes. It's prettier. It doesn't bother me as much since I rarely book directly (most travel is for work through corporate travel agency).
  • Remember Me option, as others have indicated, seems to work at random. Sometimes it remembers my name and MP# and just requires a PIN entry. Other times, it forgets everything.
  • Under the check-in box, when I click the arrow next to "Upcoming Trips" when I have no trips eligible to check-in, it expands and says so. When I do (<24hr), the persistent behavior seems to be that the click does nothing. Then I have to remember the PNR, or just type my MP# in the box, and get redirected to another page to enter my MP# and PIN again before I get check-in.
  • Geo-IP detection for logged in users is a joke for business travelers. If I fly to and from LGA 90%+ of the time, why are you doing geo-IP, and not my major market based on flight history/home address?
  • Putting individual prices per each way when the user does a roundtrip is a stupid and useless way to display the information when the user is trying to price a trip. It makes me want to use third party tools like Hipmunk or Kayak or google Flights to find a flight. Then I book directly, but United still has to pay a fee to the third party for referring me there. (In the "tour the new united.com" link at the bottom of the homepage, they actually tout "directional pricing" as a feature )
  • If I am logged in with a MP# that's gold, only Y or B fares should have the upgrade eligibility notation. M should not display "Eligible for Upgrade" for someone that isn't high enough status to get an instant upgrade. If the worry is that a fare would be upgradeable for another person on the same reservation that is 1K, then the text should say "Eligible for Upgrade (1K only)". I should not have to hover over the eligible for upgrade text.
  • Information about the baggage charges should be transparent. A small link about the additional baggage charges is OK. It's just lazy that it takes you to a generic page about checked baggage, on which you must then select "Any flights" and then enter the city pair to find out what the fees are. Not as big of a deal for an elite, but just poor form. You know the city pair, you know the cabin, you know the date. At a minimum it should link to the page to check those fees with that info pre-selected - with the "status" modifiable so people with *G or MP Elite status can put that in.
  • The fare rules link after selecting the flight (before continuing to select passenger info/payment) is ridiculous. it asks for a CAPTCHA to be filled, even if one is logged in. You enter the captcha, only to find a generic page for the fare code for the given city pair. This page has several sections, including large sections (e.g. surcharges) that list all potential things that could apply at any point. These take up multiple pages and within a section (e.g. surcharges) They list dozens of dates. Even more puzzling is that the URL for the fare rules is not something that has the fare code, and city pair, but the cart ID - so they know exactly what dates your trip is from, yet they spew out paragraphs of worthless garbage that is difficult to skim.
  • For flight searches, the "recent searches" functionality seems to always display "no recent searches" even if I have searched a particular flight #/date or date & city pair.

Beyond that, I know that changing everything at once is hard and rolling out portions over time is easier, but the visual differences on commonly accessed functionalities (e.g. viewing a reservation, searching a flight by departure and arrival city, etc.) is pretty jarring compared to having a similar navigation across all of those functionalities.

tl;dr It looks nice but there's still a lot of issues I take with the new site.

You are not the only one. It's useless to me as well.

The new UA website is completely broken to search for GPU availability for me.

Just wanted to give it another try after a failed attempt in August, hoping that it might have been fixed. Nope, instead it is even worse: it spit out SBA-SFO-HND, all legs in L. Meaning: SFO-HND is not going to be upgradeable because of fare, and SBA-SFO is a regional plane with Y/E+ only, so you cannot even apply a GPU.

*None* of the results where correct or useful, all legs were the lowest available fare class for GPU availability on SBA-SFO, which is not even possible. Back to ITA and ual.com...

I have been playing around with google flights lately. Some pretty cool stuff there, but not helpful when I am trying to find R space on United.

For some things, you have to use United.com. Thankfully, I am still getting the old site :D^

shermanx Oct 14, 2015 12:48 pm

TK not showing

ORD-IST on TK is wide open in Lifemiles, but not in United.com or Aeroplan search. Weird. Anyone know why?

andyh64000 Oct 14, 2015 1:29 pm

I am sure this has been mentioned but Award search results are almost useless. The date map shows inventory that apparently doesn't exist. And what happened to Star Alliance partner inventory?
