From here, can't really tell which changes are deliberately revenue driven and which ones are just sheer stupidity/incompetence.

Searching for premium LAX-FRA award seat around Dec 2 - the new united.com site color-coded award chart reads "Economy and Premium seats available" (green) for that date - however after selecting Dec 2/green (as well as other dates that show availability should be there) there are ZERO premium seats available - why does it say there is availability when there is none? I too am unable to access the old united.com site using private browsing on Safari - VERY FRUSTRATING - Am I doing something incorrectly?

+1
I hesitate to use the word, but I will: I hate this site.

No you aren't - if there is a seat from ewr to ord via fra it will light it up as "avaialble" - another total fail for the new site. Honestly - I've never seen such a poorly executed relaunch of a major e-commerce site in history....

Search SGN-EWR-IAH for W fare (RN1) available. It will only return S fares & not allow me to apply GPU. W bucket shows W9.

I'll book with an agent.

Edit: Cleared cache, etc, & got my W fare. Still an awful UX.

I think the majority of the industry is one-way pricing. Some people, like myself, prefer it. I wouldn't be surprised if that's what the majority of customers wanted.

I doubt it has anything to do with motives beyond that. If anything, round-trip pricing made it easier to hide the lowest fares.

I got directed to the new website today for the first time. I've tried to get back to the old site using all the tricks but had no luck. Is anybody else still able to get to the old site or has the new one fully replaced it now?

I think it is toast for most people now.

I just searched LAX-FRA for 1 on 2 December. I see UA 544 LAX-DEN + LH 447 DEN-FRA available in I. So the award is there. Dunno why you cannot see that option but the award space really is available on that day.

Is it available only for elites or credit card holders? I seem to recall there is a theoretical expanded bucket for award inventory based on some criteria, but I don't remember the details. eglise does not idicate any MileagePlus status on his profile. Just a thought...

**Added: I just updated the wiki to indicate the old site is no longer accessible...

:(

We're not talking about true "one-way pricing." We're talking about a defective interface that only offers per segment pricing for a RT itinerary. You often cannot buy the per segment fare except as part of a RT itinerary.

OP is probably searching for nonstops. I think you know the award search calendar is broken when you try to do that. It will not apply the filter to the calendar results.

Dreadful, just dreadful.

There's too much wrong with this new site to list, but really, is it that hard to fix the award calendar to show nonstop saver award dates only when you click nonstop?

CO.com has been able to do that for over a decade, we're moving backwards here...

I'm bemoaning the new site as much as anyone else, but I don't think the reason this feature went away is necessarily technological incompetence... methinks UA just wants to make it more difficult to search for low-end inventory in an attempt to get the average award space searcher to part with more miles. In the same spirit as DL deleting their award chart, really.

Regular "I" inventory which is open to everyone. If it is otherwise I'm pretty good at disclosing such in my posts.

That would make sense for why they combined the saver and standard coach award column, but why does that explain why the calendar won't show dates with nonstop availability like it did on the legacy CO site?

How does UA forcing me to click through dozens of dates to find nonstop saver award space benefit anyone?

Seems to just be sheer incompetence.
