As of Oct. 26, 2015 it no longer seems possible to access the old version of the website.

I want to know the plane, so I can avoid RJ's. I want to see expert mode. I want easy access to check seats. I don't need to know the plane specs. Provide a link for the 3 people that ever look at that. The whole site is just too many clicks.
Totally agree. The site has taken so long to develop that it has become an anachronism-dated-in the meantime. It's overly designed, unnecessary complex, cluttered with extraneous material. Like most here I want a site that helps me do my airplane "work" quickly, simply and accurately. This site is a "fail" on all three elements.

None of these things are harder on the new site than on the old site.

Want to know the plane type? That's shown on the main results page. No extra clicks needed.

Expert mode always required an extra click. So did the seat map. And, arguably, by including the seatmaps as part of the main page rather than taking you to another page in the process the ability to compare across multiple flights is significantly easier.

I don't get much value out of the aircraft spec's either but it doesn't break the site overall IMO.

The only minor hiccup I've run into so far is the LAX issue. Once you search for just LAX and reach the flight search page, the edit area defaults back to all LAX area airports.

This craps takes up a third of the screen width on the seat map section, so only a portion of the cabin can be seen on the map. How many clicks to scroll through the whole cabin....5! Five clicks to see a complete seat map!
Av geeks like me care....

I can see your point, and I don't need the info, but think of the positives. UA.com is now the only website where you don't need a separate window to view the seat map (and it's the whole plane at once). That saves time, clicks, and mouse movements. You can even easily see and compare two or more seat maps. And most planes are three clicks or less to see the whole thing anyway. It's not that much different from having to scroll down a couple times to see the whole plane like the other guys.

Maybe UA will make the easy adjustment and eliminate the info. But even if it doesn't, I find their seat map far superior to the competition.

Tick the "my dates are flexible" option on the main search screen. You still have to specify a trip length but it works pretty well. Not exactly the same but similar enough.

Ok, appropriate emoticon...I was stating the things I really wanted to see vs. extraneous content. But I mixed that message with the "too many clicks", which is more general feedback on the new design.

Another example of more clicks and keystrokes needed to accomplish the same task as the old web design.

It appears that the SHARES logic of more typing per query/transaction is embedded in this redesign, or at least this part of it.

But fewer clicks to see a month-long view for a trip of a particular length. Win some, lose some.

They are all about the same in terms of what to type to do something. The difference is in the overlays built on for agents. None of that matters for the website.

The new booking flow has fewer chances for a traveler to leave the booking path, not more. Especially if "important" things like checking the seat map are involved.

Thanks! Will likely just walk over from whatever airport hotel I stay at the night prior, but I appreciate the offer.

I *really* like how the seat map pops up instantly when you click on it from the search results. On the old site, it loaded in a new page, which was slow as molasses.

I agree. This is one area where UA shines.

+1

The new site is much faster than the old site for certain functions like this.

Is new web site now a default? Last week got old web site, but not today. Any option to revert to old site? Seems like it was possible, but don't see it now. BTW, using latest Grease Monkey script ... thought it would show bucket situation. Maybe I/we need a tutorial or some hand-holding.

if I type United airlines into a Google search, I get the new site. If I use my favorites link I get the old site.

7 days now equals 6!

Just Farelocked a reservation using the new site for 7 days; it shows expiration in 6 days instead (Friday evening for booking made on Saturday evening).
Don't really want to get on a long call with .com techs for one day difference but another sign of a not fully ready roll out.

To access the old UA site the following is currently working for me:

Clear cache
Clear browsing history
Delete UA cookie(s)
Re-boot your computer
Use www.ual.com
