Comparative Review of Five Different Star Alliance Lounges at Heathrow T2

United Club Hours 5:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. daily (as of October 2023) (standard UC access policies0
Global First Class GS / VIP lounge (newly open May 2022) (GS and at time 1K Polaris customers -- based on space)

Arrival Lounge Hours 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (open as of June 13, 2022)
The arrivals lounge at London Heathrow, located immediately after immigration and customs, is a shared space with shower suites, breakfast items and more. This lounge is exclusively available for United Polaris business class travelers.
Eligible travelers must be flying on a same-day ticket arriving before noon and cannot bring guests. Additionally, United Club memberships and one-time passes don’t grant access to this lounge.

Although the requirement is to enter before 12PM for arrivals, there have been reports of entry up until 1:30PM.

Probably sensible in this day and age, sadly. Showing BBC vs GB News is akin to showing CNN vs Fox in the US. Gets people riled.

Sounds like Narita, where they usually have bins for each pre-board group as well as 1, 2, etc. And as you can imagine in Japan, they check scrupulously to ensure that you're in the right order/bin.

Yes they do -- and they actively "hunt" for their premium / status flyers. However, unlike the UK they don't have that much room -- thankfully the cultural norms allow for a more organized boarding -- and of course rigorous enforcement of the rules...

Just an update to say that as of today, no sign of any progress in the rumo(u)red conversion to a single lounge. Presently in the still-separate former GFL/VIP section. The premature removal of Little Ben gets more maddening by the day!

I'll be there again in a few weeks -- will expect no progress as well and I miss Big Ben too... One minor complaint though -- they have the warming units set way too high on the buffet -- Food gets way too hot and dries out fast -- fortunately the self-serve wine helps calm the mouth....

I was there a few weeks ago and it was very busy. It looked like the VIP/GS area was in full "overflow" mode as it was quite crowded and noisy.

I was there two days ago (14 Oct), arrived to the UC around 12:00. Declined the invite to the 'VIP' area. Entire lounge space was crowded as usual. Spent at least an hour before that in the LH Senator lounge in 2A, its far quieter and more suited for getting some work done.

LH is ok if you can get past the "unwelcome" sign directing you to the 2B lounges and threatening non-admittance (all in plain violation of published *A rules, but who's enforcing those?).

Just passed through LHR. Apparently, the toilets in the main lounge have not been working for four days (!!) Fortunately, we were directed to the GS/VIP area, where everything was in order. However, Big Ben is still missing.

And unlike the pre-boarding lanes in the U.S., one can continue to use the dedicated lanes after main boarding had started.

I found the LHR lounge to be a little disappointing, what with them having ‘recently’ remodeled and all. Such a letdown after the Polaris on the other side.

I have been in and out of LHR often this year, and have been using the SQ Silver Kris Lounge instead of United Club. It is often quiet and offer better food and beverage.

I know LH, OS, LX and SN direct their passengers to the LH lounge.
AC does it for its Maple Leaf Lounge and UA agents have been directing us to the United Club.

I wonder which lounge(s) CA, BR, TG, NH, MS. TK, ET., OZ are directing their business and *G passengers to.
I did LHR-TPE and :LHR-PEK prior to Covid, and was directed to use United Club by CA and BR check-in agents. In both cases, I went to SQ lounge instead.

Having lounge hopping at LH, SQ, AC and UA, I felt that there was commonality in quite a few of the food items. Are all lounges serviced by the same outfit?

The AC and SQ lounges are definitely quieter in the afternoon.

So, as a Polaris customer flying LHR-EWR, I would have access not only to the UC, but the AC, LH, and SQ lounges, also? Recommendations if the answer is Yes.
