No, they're not. The verbiage right on the UA site is "We have completed installing the new seats on 44 Airbus 319s and 320s and expect to complete the Airbus fleet by the end of 2014. All the new 737-900ER deliveries will have the new seats, and we will begin retrofitting our existing 737-800s and 737-900ERs this summer. We expect delivery of our next 737-900ER on Jan. 23.

Except that is has been confirmed elsewhere that they're different seats.

hmm, Let me see, should I value a "reportedly coming" report from flyer talk, or should I value commentary that I just took off our official UA employee site

Same comment, UA employee site says otherwise. Now could the United site be wrong ?, of course, but as of right now, they are saying that the same seats that went on the airbus and the CR7 are going on the 737's

The CR7 seats are different...

Here's a press release from UA about it, linked from the article I linked above:

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/united...181500142.html

The stuff you got in the employee portal was just being free with language.

You know, the funny part is that the seats on the airbus photo actually look like they would be more comfortable that the ones on the newer 737's. What is the concensus on the ones on the CR7 ?. While I have flown that aircraft a bunch, I was always upgraded.

flew from sfo to bos last week. The new seats, while I suppose comfortable, make the whole plane seem so much more clastrophobic! There are so many people jammed in the plane - and even the exit row is so narrow I couldn't lay my head on the tray table. Its just too small for such a long flight to have all those people

If the UA internal site says that identical seats are being installed on the CR7/737s as on the A319/320s then it absolutely and unequivocally is wrong. The Airbus seats are the Recaro model. The UA seats are from B/E Aeropspace Pinnacle model. This has been confirmed multiple times through public and private conversations as well as through the photos and details the company has published.

You don't have to believe it if you don't want to, but it absolutely is the truth.

It doesn't specifically say that they're the same seats. It just says "the new seats". There's no problem reading it like this:

"We have completed installing the new [A319/A320] seats on 44 Airbus 319s and 320s and expect to complete the Airbus fleet by the end of 2014. All the new 737-900ER deliveries will have the new [737] seats, and we will begin retrofitting our existing 737-800s and 737-900ERs this summer."

Just had the pleasure of a 4 hr flight with these seats (airbus), no ife, and $10 Internet...with no power plug. Backside still hurts a little as I lie in bed. No way is this an improvement in my mind. Budget feel. Couldn't put a bottle of water in the mesh back pocket. Very narrow feeling armrest. Maybe they do break in over time but not a good experience. Not a fan.

+1

5.5 hours MCO to LAX. My bum is still bummed out.

NO IFE + $9.00 WIFI. What a benefit...for UA.

(But a big ++ for the German FA. She was great.)

These slimlines on the CR7's are nothing short of atrocious. Flew DEN-CLE on this slimline config, and my body was sore after that. Last weekend, I flew ORD-BTV on this config again, and much the same.

I really hope someone from UA reads these threads and is noting customer feedback. Pinching pennies by significantly reducing comfort is not going to win business in the long run. I fly a lot, and I do fly economy most of the time. If more aircraft transition to these seats, I will seriously consider other airline options. I don't know how they advertise these seats as having more ergonomic and supportive cushioning... they are the antithesis of that statement. UA's economy class flight experience will quickly fall out of the ranks of "Best Economy Class Flight Experience" into the tanks of "avoid at all costs".
