As of the last update from an inside source, the meal choice prioritization policy is to prioritize in this order:

1. Global Services
2. Premier 1K
3. All other revenue passengers
4. Nonrevs

This prioritization is done in the galley, after taking orders. If you saw a flight crew take orders front to back, but did not see any GS/1K passengers denied their first choice, you have not witnessed a violation of the policy. Indeed, taking orders front to back is correct under the policy.

As a reminder, our standard procedure is to take meal orders from front to back of the cabin and ask for a second choice in case your first choice is not available. After meal orders are taken, our inflight crew will prioritize meal orders in the galley. This way, we can streamline the order-taking processes while eliminating skipping around the cabin for order-taking.

Hi, UA-NYC,

Yes, your assertion is accurate. Premier 1K will still be prioritized as you stated, but again, this is to be done in the galley.

LGA-IAH today - back in my favorite seat on the 757 in row 6. When FA came around and asked for lunch orders, I requested the sandwich to which he replied "I'll do my best to honor your first choice." He was working off of the manifest, and when he walked back up to the galley I saw him double check the manifest and do an "Ohhhh" with his mouth, which indicated to me I'd be getting my first choice.

Had I not gotten my first choice, well I would've moved on with life, but would've been a bit miffed as this flight was filled with TODs. The two people in row 5 were both going on about how they've never been in FC before and they got such a good deal from the kiosk. Both were amazed that drinks came in glassware and they got a meal! Had they gotten their first choice and I didn't, I'd have been peeved.

Everyone's equally important, except you're more important because of an allergy. Wait, I thought everyone was equally important once you're in first? Except you, of course, and anyone else making any other claim to an allergy, maybe a dislike, maybe the possibility of an allergy, should be treated more importantly? Except, everyone's equal, of course.

sUA had the same attitude when they implemented the sCO PDB procedure. Some FAs kept on bringing the Water and OJ tray and it took a few months for them to get over it.

The sCO crew who is not happy with the change will get over it in due time. Nobody likes change for most part.

At some point it's not about liking or disliking change. It's about simply embracing it. It's deciding that it's a done thing and you're going to make the best of it and quit whining. Advice I need to take myself from time to time.

We know that the concept of rewarding passengers with perks according to loyalty is relatively new to the sCO "treat everyone the same!!" folks.

It took almost a year, but I guess the socialistic "all elites are equal" stuff wasn't exactly a money maker.
Yeah, I guess the socialist AA with FEBO meal policy must have the most hated elite program in the biz

I kind of agree with the change though. They should either do completely FEBO-style or do it by status. The front to back, except GS was always kind of half-baked.

Most people here have commented on domestic flights. Does the new meal order apply to international routes as well?

LOL. Exactly. If there is one person that is more "over entitled" than any frequent flyer it is the person that has an allergy...

You were so allergic to dairy that it would literally kill you, yet you got over it? Quite a miraculous recovery.

In any event, if you are that allergic, you should have considered bringing your own food aboard, so restraining yourself was appropriate.

When did anyone say "not a MP member" in the posts you quoted? You keep trying to make your example more extreme by adding qualifiers that were completely absent from the posts you were responding to.

I consider it a slight problem when I can't sit in my preferred seat without foregoing a hot breakfast. I'd hope nobody's expecting Chez Panisse, especially on United, but I think this was one where all the whining was justified.

Very good advice. This is something I need to keep in mind in the future ^

Same crew today brought water & OJ on tray saying nothing. These people just don't belong sCO or not. Not customer focused or friendly. Being rude and not friendly is 100 x's worse in my book then something I can simply get around like asking for a scotch and soda if they bring OJ & water.

So all meal choices are the same and none are worse than others? I bet if you are offered a choice of meals, you select one over the other, so there is a difference and you do have preferences. Or do you not eat anything on a plane? The discussion is about choices of food ON A PLANE. Eating at a restaurant or at home isn't an option at 30,000'.

Bad news on that bet....as posted elsewhere, I tell the FA I will take any of the choices available since you guys seem so passionate about the food and I find it marginal at best.

This discussion has gone as far as to say some choose their seat to assure their choice of meal.....which I find incredible.
