Feb 2023: Many reports that Expert Mode checkbox is being disabled automatically / randomly (in some cases, repeatedly), and users have to opt back in on the website to re-enable Expert Mode.
Note on 18 Oct 2018 the fare class for upgrades changed from R to PZ

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to let you know that we’ll be re-launching Expert Mode as an opt-in feature later this afternoon. This feature will display all fare classes when shopping for flights on united.com. You can opt-in to this feature by logging into your MileagePlus account and following these steps:
As always, thanks for your feedback and patience over the last couple weeks while we worked to make these changes.

Up until today it was working for me in the app (but not desktop) but since this morning it hasn’t been working in the app either. Extremely frustrating as a GS looking for elusive PN space.

Kirby enhancement, EM gone on my desktop too. On a side note I think it's part of a general bug with the website since other things are also broken. You used to be able to sort by departure time - latest to earliest, but now you can only do earliest to latest.
The option is still on the site so I don't believe they have eliminated it yet.

Ditto. Are those who can't access on the app making sure they still have it enabled in their profiles?

Still broken?
Anyone have visibility if this is getting fixed any time soon?
As was pointed out earlier, this is not just an issue with Expert mode, but an overall issue with preferences. The system does not honor the date or time preferences I have enabled in addition to lack of showing Expert mode.
Another issue: When using the ios app, it is showing T fare availability on an itinerary that I want to book. However, when searching using desktop for a T fare on that itinerary, it says not available -- yet offers to sell me a G or a K (both lower fare buckets).
Why would T not be available when lower cost buckets are not yet sold?

There are enough reports of this, it really suggests whatever UA broke on the back-end is causing a variety of intermittent problems with the app, including disappearing expert mode.

Super annoying that we STILL don't have expert mode on desktop! I greatly prefer to do my flight searches there but am having to default to the app to see the fare buckets.

Good point. I wish I had not updated mine either!
