Just called the 1K line twice. Answered within a few minutes each time. Hopefully that's a good sign. Was told ON is the correct class for a confirmed upgrade in a 2-cabin plane, which I don't think is right. Will have to try again another day - that flight is not for a few more weeks.

You're right! ON is on a 3-class UA flight. R is for two class on to Biz on 3-class.

At SNA earlier this week observed a customer walk to the podium and ask about getting on an earlier flight. GA told him it would be $75 to which the customer agreed. Only took the agent 10 minutes of typing to change the reservation, including manually typing in the credit card number while the other agent read the numbers to him as the card swiper wasn't working. Then it only took 4 tries to get the boarding pass to print.

I thought the GA making the change was an sUA agent training on the new system, but was wrong. It took an sCO agent 10 minutes to ticket the change. To cap it off, once he finished he turned to the sUA agent and said (his exact words) "see how easy that was?".

In fastair it could have been done in 30 seconds or less, including swiping the credit card and printing the boarding pass.

Stinks - check again today, maybe it will magically appear as mine did after a day

If no dice - PM the issue to UA Insider. And if you call it in, an agent can probably apply it for you.

And I get there are issues now but I'd expect them to shakeout.

If your a 1K on a say Q fare and there's another 1K on a E fare which is higher and you force a upgrade on your Q fare before the E fare 1k gets upgraded, Isn't that cutting inline?

I just don't think its a fair solution to be doing that.

I do agree however contacting UA Insider if you think something is wrong.
Totally agree with you!

You really want them that quickly? I'm sure as soon as you cross thresholds, they will waste zero time in getting them posted and starting the expiration clock

Still frusterated

After 10 phone calls, my account still isn't right.

1. Status downgrade (1K-->Plat). Took four calls and five transfers. Fixed finally.
2. Missing flights from the week (had to call four times). Got the miles. However, they subtracted the earned miles from my 2012 total for some reason. Guess I get to make another call.
3. OnePass account link failed. Another call. Fixed.

Total spent on phone: about 3 hours. Minor things, but still time consuming.

I'm starting to think SHARES hates me for some reason.

The really weird thing is during the inital transfer, everything was correct. Odd.

Plus side: I've been upgraded on 4/4 flights, and all the ops have run smoothly. So props to the UA/CO team for that.

CO has been notoriously late in the past posting these. Depending on your situation, that is either a good thing or a bad thing.

Good point - though the first year of CO SWUs, they were good for ~18 months basically (if you crossed early), so they were incented to delay posting long as possible. Now that they're trying to stick us with a 12 month expiry, they're incented to post them as quickly as possible. I guess we'll see...

When you get to the seat map, can you click on a seat in the First cabin? That should launch the upgrade process.

As a techie, I have strong feelings about this. Shares has been much more stable and robust than Apollo. During mid 2011 small integrations started and that's when things went down hill. I completely understand and thinking it was correct to move to Shares.

However what bothers me tremendously is why agents still need to be putting in these codes. It's 2012, everything should be point and click or similar. I have heard there is something called Fast Shares which simplifies things but that it has not been rolled out to PMUA computers.

I have watched at IAD where agents are going through the code book trying to figure out what to do.

In CRW, it's a small airport where agents work multiple airline gates and counters. Anything more than checking in and charging for luggage and they need to call support to figure out what to do.

The point here is that there is no back end list! So it's not cutting because there is no line! I just feel bad taking up time and space in the queues when others are calling about more serious issues!

This doesn't happen to everyone or every flight, but when it does the system is simply not creating CPUs. This is different from waitlisting. So in my case there were 2 fares available for upgrades yet I wasn't being upgraded. There was nobody before me or after me, there simply was no list. This is the case where UAInsider or others are forcing the upgrade.

Technically, there could be someone else who should have been ahead of me on the list and is also not being upgraded, there is no way to tell. But if I wait till check in to get on the list, than any number of people may upgrade with miles or use RPU's and fill up the remaining fares.

united.com/premiervoice (the link on the back of the premier cards) doesn't seem to be working in Firefox. Firefox reports "The page isn't redirecting properly". It does appear to work (albeit very slowly) in IE8.

Okay, here's a new one (as far as I can tell by searching this thread... might have missed something if it didn't have the key words I searched for).

I just had IAD-DEN-XXX booked (yesterday) in full Y. The reservation on united.com shows the "Premier Instant Upgrade Fare" logo with the yellow U. I clicked through on the "Instant Premier Upgrade" logo below, and it gave me the option to select both segments for Y-up. And, indeed, the DEN-XXX segment is now in JN...

...but the IAD-DEN segment won't stick, despite JN=3 availability. I've tried about 8 times, and while it initially claims to have upgraded the segment to JN, the yellow U logo is still there, as is my E+ seat assignment... and upon going back to the initial reservation, I see that I'm still in Y.

I tried the Premier phone line; two separate agents (and their respective supervisors) weren't able to do anything. They agreed that the JN availability was there, the upgrade should go through, but the computer refused to process it for absolutely no reason that they could identify. Nice people, and they were clearly frustrated at being helpless.

In the olden days, when the computer clearly screwed something up, supervisors generally had a workaround. Seems that's been locked down at this stage -- if "Computer says No!" then there's no way around it.

Update: I PMed UA Insider, and they fixed it within 60 minutes. You guys are awesome! Please please share your mojo with the rest of UA's team... (btw, no insights yet as to what was wrong or how it got fixed, so YMMV in the future...)

I'm having a consistent profile error issue that is happening. Each time I visit the account page in MP, I get the following dialog box:

Your account is activated. Take a moment to confirm your profile details, including email subscriptions.

My set username I chose is showing as "none" but when I click "edit" it's still showing up in the text field. I hit continue and it's set again until I logon again from a different IP address.

Nothing major but a definite annoyance.
