Newest Travel Bank program
New UA "Travel Bank" option -- deposit funds and get a bonus

{UA} we’ve decided to discontinue the program as of April 23, 2019.
In particular, the united.com Club
united.com Club

As we keep evolving the digital experience for our travelers, we’ve decided to discontinue the united.com Club. If you’re a current member, there are a few things we hope you keep in mind.

Although you’ll no longer be able to renew your membership, you’ll continue to receive the benefits of the united.com Club until your current membership period expires. If you booked any trips before the end of your current membership, we’ll credit any united.com Club benefits to your TravelBank after you’ve completed your trip.

For more questions about the program, call us at 1-800-UNITED-1.

5 April 2018 -- UA started posting an "expiration date", appears to be at least 18 months after most recent activity (some are longer for unknown reasons)
also states
Some of your United®TravelBank Cash may expire on a different date than what’s displayed here. Please check your balance details for a complete history of your United®TravelBank Cash transactions and the expiration date for each amount.
Expiration had previously been in the T&Cs for some time (2 years of inactivity? but now is 18 months) and had stated an ETC would be issued if the funds did timeout. Unclear if that still applies.

The Gift Registry has been disabled since Fall 2017 (Sept?) (appears this may be related to a tax issue?)
As of 5 May 2018, it still states
We're sorry, our gift registry page is currently unavailable for maintenance. You can still use the funds from your gift registry to book travel during this time, but you will not be able to receive contributions or update your registry details. We expect the page to be up and running again in early 2018.
Around Sept 2018, wording changed to
We're sorry, our gift registry page is currently unavailable for maintenance. You can still use the funds from your gift registry to book travel during this time, but you will not be able to receive contributions or update your registry details.

to be fair, while the club is going away, the funds won’t (until the expiry date listed). I’m told my membership will continue until March next year.

Me, nor my wife, have gotten any notification about the end of the United.com club at this point. But our memberships both go until March next year, and we both have separate TravelBank cards, so we’ll both continue to have funds in there even after the death of United.com Club.

There has no particular reason to carry a significant TravelBank balance, it is just a no interest loan to UA.

Wouldn't they carry it as a liability rather than an asset? But I understand your point.

Are you unable to use your Travel Bank balance while making a booking? or is it a different issue?
Has it expired?

Has not expired. Does not show up as an option when booking.

Is anyone else having trouble selecting their travel balance on the United Payments section of the check out process? I can't for the life of me get that option to load. I'm booking a PHX > ORD flight one way on UA metal for myself so I really can't figure it out.

Just tried a dummy booking and it was missing. There was an earlier report also

The typical workaround - "pay in person" and then calling is also missing

Thank you for confirming that for me, super helpful! GS desk had no issue accessing the TB funds and applying them to that ticket. The GS agent did make a comment about moving to a "new system" a few days ago that she said even the supervisors seemed confused by. No idea if that is true/related but it is mildly annoying to spend 15 minutes on the phone doing something that I should be able to do online in 2 minutes.

It's true -- there's a board thread about Compass, which is the name of the new system for phone agents -- but it shouldn't be related to any issues applying funds online. I'd be more inclined to believe it was another garden-variety UA IT screwup.

So a question. My account doesn't show a renewal charge as of March 24, my "account anniversary". However, I am still earning credits for flights since that date. Should I take that as meaning my membership is still valid through March 2020?

I'll add a note that I too am sad that this hidden gem program is going away; I will note that the gift registry probably created issues with the Amex Plat airline fee rebate, since it would apply as a "fee."
