Newest Travel Bank program
New UA "Travel Bank" option -- deposit funds and get a bonus

{UA} we’ve decided to discontinue the program as of April 23, 2019.
In particular, the united.com Club
united.com Club

As we keep evolving the digital experience for our travelers, we’ve decided to discontinue the united.com Club. If you’re a current member, there are a few things we hope you keep in mind.

Although you’ll no longer be able to renew your membership, you’ll continue to receive the benefits of the united.com Club until your current membership period expires. If you booked any trips before the end of your current membership, we’ll credit any united.com Club benefits to your TravelBank after you’ve completed your trip.

For more questions about the program, call us at 1-800-UNITED-1.

5 April 2018 -- UA started posting an "expiration date", appears to be at least 18 months after most recent activity (some are longer for unknown reasons)
also states
Some of your United®TravelBank Cash may expire on a different date than what’s displayed here. Please check your balance details for a complete history of your United®TravelBank Cash transactions and the expiration date for each amount.
Expiration had previously been in the T&Cs for some time (2 years of inactivity? but now is 18 months) and had stated an ETC would be issued if the funds did timeout. Unclear if that still applies.

The Gift Registry has been disabled since Fall 2017 (Sept?) (appears this may be related to a tax issue?)
As of 5 May 2018, it still states
We're sorry, our gift registry page is currently unavailable for maintenance. You can still use the funds from your gift registry to book travel during this time, but you will not be able to receive contributions or update your registry details. We expect the page to be up and running again in early 2018.
Around Sept 2018, wording changed to
We're sorry, our gift registry page is currently unavailable for maintenance. You can still use the funds from your gift registry to book travel during this time, but you will not be able to receive contributions or update your registry details.

Yes, ticket has to be issued from your MP account.

ticket can be for anyone. But you’ll have to login and book it from your account, as that’s the only place the funds are available.

Maybe they go by halves: early = pre-July / late = post-June.

If the Polaris Lounge roadmap is any template for the travelbank update, we're probably looking for mid-2019.

Does United read what it writes and posts?

How can a web page be "unavailable for maintenance"? They haven't figured out how to make it available for maintenance since 2017?

And this "notice" has been posted for months now - "early 2018" - yeah, right.

Oh, believe me. There is plenty of software that is unavailable for maintenance -- nobody knows who wrote it, how it works, what it does, or what might break if you change something; therefore, no maintenance.

Searched, but couldn't find an answer.

I want to use my TravelBank funds ($200 for AMEX Plat reimbursement) to book a reservation for two people. If within the 24 hours post-booking, I need to cancel one of the passengers, does the refund go back to the credit card or TravelBank?

For example - ticket costs $200/person x 2 passengers = $400. Use $200 TravelBank + $200 credit card payment.
If I need to cancel one passenger within 24 hours of booking, what happens?
1.) $200 back to credit card,
2.) $200 back to TravelBank, or
3.) Split $100 back to credit card and $100 back to TravelBank?

Thank you for your help.

I believe 3.) will happen, although the system may choke and forget to refund the card at all (just giving $100 back to TB).

Can you do two different reservations? One with a credit card and one with travel bank. Use desired form of payment with the possible cancellation. That way you know for certain it will be credited back correctly.

United.com Club: How long for credit to show up??

Anyone here a member of united.com club that you pay $25 for and then get back $5 in booking credits for each flight you book after travel is completed? Is it the same time that the flight shows up in your MP account? I have a flight that was booked and its appeared in my mileage account but its not showing up in the travel bank balance activity.

IME, it usually appears within 24 hours of the flight posting. However, if the flight was rebooked or other irrops had occur, a few times you need to manually request credit.

for missing credit

Or if it's an award flight, or booked for someone else, or a day ending in -y. But I'm batting 100% using the secret email

it tells you the route and the date of the trip in the details for each posting. On a round trip/multi-city, it uses the origin/destination of the outbound, and appears once you’ve flown the outbound.
