Narita transfer procedure?

So, 'Mrs. narvik' is arriving at NRT on NZ99 and leaving 70 minutes later on UA78.
When booking I hadn't really thought much of it, but now it seem like a rather tight connection.

Not too familiar with NRT myself, I was wondering what the procedure, expected transfer times, and possible terminal changes she might have to expect?

And now found the appropriate thread here.

Never had any transfer issues. I've done UA - NH twice and CA - UA once.

UA & NZ both in Terimal 1 IIRC.

NRT is as efficient as it gets. Compare and contrast: PEK

There's a whole thread on this:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...stics-nrt.html

Short story is that 70 mins is generally ample. I've done it in 45 mins (although I was among last to board) on a UA-UA transit.

I agree; transiting at NRT is smooth and efficient.

I am transiting in PEK UA-Air China next week. What should I expect?

The only problem with the 70 min transfer time is that it probably doesn't leave sufficient time for a fine bowl of noodles at the ANA lounge

NRT is pretty easy to transit through. Both airlines use Terminal 1, and just follow signs for transiting passengers. You can get your UA boarding pass at the transit desk.

Chaos!

Air China international? There's a special transit desk to the left of main immigration lines. If domestic, you'll go through immigration as normal.

I don't think NRT is quite so perfect for transfers as some here suggest, you can bump into some pretty big crowds at transit security, especially this time of year. But it is a compact transfer, with no long walks. Bottom line is that 70 minutes will be sufficient if the inbound is on time.

But possibly one beer from the automatic beer machine!

I can't think of a major international hub better suited for a 70 min. *A to *A connection than Narita. Biggest risk (other than delayed inbound, of course), is a bus gate arriving at NRT or line at transfer security, as either can add some time, but I have no idea if NZ uses bus gates at NRT (UA does not but NH does for some regional flights, e.g.). In any event, lots of *A and UA staff in the terminal if something goes wrong. There are no better proactive UA staff than those at NRT, IME.

Arriving NRT via United F, transferring to TG J flight 2hr later.

Is there a fast track or priority for F arrivals?

Wondering if i'll have enough time to lounge hop my eligible lounges.

Yes, there's *G fast track, which is not the fastest line always.

You can always head to another security check point - I've found sometimes continuing along the hallway gets a shorter line.

You will have plenty of time for at least one lounge. More if you really want.
