Not that I pay a ton of attention after having my Nexus/GE revoked but I think I saw 3 GE machines and a sign saying Nexus was being terminated (in the USA step 1/2/3 transit room/thing).

There were only Global entry machines on the cnx side of US entry when I transited to US a few weeks back.

It is welldocumented in the very long Nexus thread, but long story short, I failed to declare a Great Lakes water landing on US soil during very bad weather (had no water landing permit) for shelter.

It was when I was a teen, over 25 years ago, never even crossed my mind. On revocation they only told me the year of 'the incident' so it took me months to figure it out.

Appeal failed, lawyer 1 took my money and vanished, lawyer 2 said 'is a likely loss of $10k fighting this worth the time you'll save on entry to NA?' (gave me a 10% of getting it back).

I have two friends that have theirs revoked as well.

Traveling with kids under 14. Both of my 10 and 8 year old have iris scans, but not GE fingerprints. At our interviews four months ago the CBP agents wouldn't take them; they said it is just not done until kids are over 14. I didn't think it mattered, since they could just use the NEXUS machines at the airport.

Now it matters.

YUL will be getting a NEXUS-only exit lane in the international arrivals baggage hall. The lane will start apart from the regular flow (which will also be expanded to 6 lanes) and merge just before the CBSA officers collecting the declaration cards. I've seen the blueprints but can't post them as they are proprietary.

ETA is currently for Grand Prix week.

I am a Canadian pr with Nexus and GLobal Entry and when crossing the land border into the USA at peace arch in Vancouver last time I was told to go inside the office and do the fingerprint/ eyes scan blues, fill out a green document and pay $6.- I am wondering because I never had to go through this before since being a Nexus/Global Entry member and was always waved through, even though I always showed my German passport, does anyone know what the rule is for Canadian permanent residents regarding this?

OK, now that's a nice change. But 6 lanes??
Where are they getting that extra space, as there currently room for maybe 3 lanes.

Nexus is soon (now?) gone from YYZ-->US preclearance. A week ago, there were just 2 machines, and they were both inoperative. But a line of 12 Global Entry machines...

Folks, like I said a few months ago, it's all now Global Entry.

Don't be scared of the new machines. YYZ T1 actually has a helpful CBP dude by the Nexus who will help you check to see if it works for you. You can also check through the GOES Web site to see if you are qualified.

I agree. The Global Entry machines are much easier to use than Nexus. Clearly the Nexus machines are being phased out on the way into the US at Pearson T1. The agent was very helpful in getting my 9 and 7 year old daughters fingerprints added so that they can now use GE.

Arwed,

Did you get a sticker on your passport for the GE? Did you have to go to the GE office to get your Nexus file link with the GE?

I'm a CDN PR as well and was told by a CBP that I'm not eligible for GE even though I have Nexus and got an email saying that I can use the GE benefits.

1.Can one also, if so inclined, use the custom declaration forms (given to passengers on the plane when returning to USA), when going across the border by land?

2. To put it another way in terms of your statement above, when would one want to use the TDC, rather than making a verbal declaration?

3. I do not understand the issue of a waiver, if one brings in (after one or more nights stay in USA) items with the duty-free declaration. So, if I come back from USA after 48 hours, is there any difference if I declare $800 worth of items verbally, versus on a TDC?

1. No - Air entry cards ask specific questions for air travelers
2. There is no reason to use a TDC unless you need a written record because you make a carbon copy
3. If you use a TDC you still have to make a verbal declaration, so why bother?

I was told in an email that I can now also use GE and have actually used it with m nexus card, no passport sticker here though...

A couple years ago I was admonished in DEN (I think) for using GE without a sticker on my passport. Since then I've gone through GE 20+ times without a sticker with no issues. I'm CDN Nexus holder. Incidentally, when I renewed my Nexus recently, I went to get it updated with CBP and the first guy didn't think Nexus was eligible, but fortunately the agent that referred me to the office showed up 10 min later and showed him how to do it.

The land border crossing is one of the worst for non-Canadians and non-US passport holders. They ALWAYS send you to secondary screening when crossing the border by land if you don't have a Canadian or US passport, regardless if you are a PR or not. And the payment of $6 is mandatory for non Canadians and non US.

Crossing the border is way different over land than through airport. For one, the I-94 is typed out for you over land, but in airport you have to write it out.

Just used Global Entry for the first time on Wednesday. I am a Canadian PR on a foreign passport.

What's really cool was:-
- It takes a picture of you
- It knows what flight you're going to go on
- It seems to be much faster than the NEXUS kiosks
- The touchscreen appears to be more responsive
- You can choose the status you are entering in (e.g. L1 visa, Visa Waiver Program, etc)
- It worked. (I was worried that I would have issues with my foreign passport)
- You don't need to listen to the irritating voice "MOVE LEFT A LITTLE"... "MOVE RIGHT A LITTLE"... "MOVE BACK A LITTLE"... "THANK YOU FOR YOUR CO-OPERATION"

What's not cool was:
- You have to take your passport out and get it scanned. No more leaving the passport in your bag.
- You still have to show the person at guarding the NEXUS entry area your NEXUS card at the gate. So you gotta take out your passport AND nexus card.

Anyone with other experiences?
