I have the NEXUS interview on Saturday in Detroit. Did anyone for their interview bring proof of their permanent resident status (rent bill, utility bill, mortgage statement)? Did they even ask for it or not?
This is proof of residency / address, not proof of "permanent resident" status, though. In addition, bring proof of citizenship and admissibility (the documents you mentioned in the application), and the letter of invitation to the interview. |
Thanks. Will a bank statement be okay for the residency/address?

I had my nexus interview in Ottawa a week ago. I was asked to show my driver's license. I had not entered that as proof of residency (in Ottawa) in the application form. The only other item I was asked to show was my passport. Having read many posts in this thread, it depends upon the officer what you may or may not be asked to produce, as proof of residency. I actually took bank statements, utility bills, and other pieces of evidence - just in case I was asked and one particular item was ruled not appropriate as proof of residency. |
I took both bank and utility statement, and assorted other things, including my birth certificate, my US social security card, etc. I decided they weigh nothing, take minimal space and are easy to refile when I get back home, so it was no big deal to have extra stuff with me.

Office at YYZ is just outside the entrance to transborder customs clearance. The letter gives lots of instructions where to park. Ignore it and just park as if for US departure, enter T1 terminal and go to the area you normally get the US immigration card to fill in. You will see a HUGE sign you may never have noticed before saying NEXUS.

NEXUS's big moves
Digging into news releases on the NEXUS web I went into the one about an additional lane on the Peace Bridge. But within that one, there is a list of things, some of which are not in the big items that are on top of each page of this thread. I haven't an idea of what an enrolment blitz is but the idea of a lightning speed event at a NEXUS office is right there in the realm of possibility with getting a visit from the Easter Bunny. Anyway, here they are:
"Other achievements for NEXUS to-date include: •conducting enrolment blitzes to assist with increasing application volumes; •streamlining the membership renewal process; •lifting the three-year residency requirement for Canadian and American citizens to apply to NEXUS; •expanding Trusted Traveller Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) security screening lines in pre-clearance areas to 14 major and mid-sized Canadian airports; and •expedited clearance through the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Pre-Check lanes at 27 participating airports for domestic travel within the U.S." |

I am not sure if that's acceptable but for sure I know that driver's license is the best proof.
I recommend coming over-prepared. It doesn't cost you anything. For example, somehow my birth certificate ended up being listed on the form, and they ask for it every time now. I think I just entered it as a back-up for my passport, but now they want to verify it too. Annoying. |

Utility bills and bank statements are usually accepted as proof of address by governments, banks, cell phone merchants, etc.

Just wanted to write my timeline. I interviewed last Thursday(Friday was Good Friday), and I just got my nexus card and it's Wednesday now. So it took 2 business days to get here(Mail was not delivered Monday). I live in Edmonton, interviewed in Edmonton, and the card came from Sweet Grass MT. Very happy!

Interview Slots - Need to be on the same date?
Myself and my 3 young sons have just been conditionally approved for nexus. The interview dates at my closest office are many months from now, except for one appointment next week. Consider my sons are under 18 and must interview with me anyway, will nexus accept me taking the much earlier interview date and then booking appointments (at the same office) for my 3 sons many months from now? Will they then see us all at the same time?

I did not try this myself but that is what I read from other posted experiences. |
All machines at YVR were down yesterday afternoon! Counters understaffed. Very poor show for an airport that prides itself on being people friendly!
