Question on NEXUS renewal
Does anyone know if they re-scan your eyes & fingers on renewal or do they simply keep the existing data on file? If they did, I would be able to schedule my interview at a land border that doesn't have the scanning equipment.

Global entry with green card tips?
Former H1B, now Green Card holder (PR); registered for both Nexus and GE.
When I tried using GE (because Nexus terminal was down), I inserted my (Cdn) passport as instructed, then got an error message along the lines of "US Permanent Residents must use their PR card". Next time, I inserted the PR card in the document reader and could not get it to read. I tried all four combinations. Any ideas what I am doing wrong. thanks |

While not cheaper than $100, you can fly to BUF and drive to the enrollment center at the Whirlpool bridge (on the US side) in about 25 minutes or Fort Erie (on the Canadian side) in about 15 minutes + crossing time.
Jetblue flies BOS-BUF several times a day. |

(from global entry topic)
The issue is getting to a Canadian facility, which appears to cost more than a new $100 application.

If one is going from Boston, the best move is probably a bus or whatever to Montreal. Much closer than Buffalo.
I had never heard that interviews can be done in Canadian cities, is that correct? I thought the NEXUS interviews were all at borders, but I could easily be wrong. In any case I have tried to find a decent priced bus to Montreal and it doesn't seem to exist, aside from the fact that it would take longer than one day to get there and back (due to bus scedules) and thus involve a hotel stay, so not under $100. (That's my guess, from the research I've done.) |

Any Canadian airport with US preclearance facilities can do NEXUS interviews: Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto Pearson, Ottawa, Montreal Trudeau and Halifax. (I am always unsure about Quebec City; I don't think it has preclearance but I could be wrong.)
No NEXUS or Global Entry kiosks either. |

Nexus App - long processing time
Just wanted to write a note that Nexus seems to have a longer processing time nowadays. I just applied for my baby and it has been 7 weeks without a status change. Already wrote an email to inquire about the status and got admonished that it hasn't been 8 weeks yet (they say to email after 8 weeks of not hearing) and that there is no way to expedite the process. Sheesh. Back in 2010 it took 6 days for an application to be processed for me and my husband. Not sure why it takes so long to do a background check on an infant, unless there is now a huge queue for this program.

According to the Nexus website, there is still an enrollment center in downtown Vancouver.

applied in early march, still haven't seen an update on the GOES website. its been a little over 6 weeks. i was contemplating emailing them as well, but i guess i will wait to see if it updates within the eight week time frame they give.
Same here... I'll wait it out. Too bad, since I am near a center now but going away from it for a few weeks... |
