Yes, while Toronto is blacked out for the entire year, I was able to schedule one at Buffalo/Fort Erie for June.
I hope YYZ opens up before that.

I suspect they've just marked a number of locations as "unavaialble" for the time being.

Based on a quick glance, the only locations are offering appointments are port-of entry / border enrollment centers. None of the them located in urban areas are available. But, not all port of entry / border locations are open, maybe 3/4 of them

Approval without interview?

I submitted my Nexus renewal request two days ago and received an Approval letter today. I'm a little confused because I was sure I needed an interview (in fact, if I'm not mistaken, the website said so during the application process and even after submitting said the next step would be Conditional Approval).
Is this due to covid and offices being closed, or did I get lucky?

Trusted Traveler renewals do not always require an interview.

I applied for renewal yesterday (this is the second renewal) and received conditional approval today (my other renewal did not require an interview). No appointments of course right now, so will just wait; expiry is in November.

My expiry is in July. I applied in January not realising that you could have applied earlier now. Still pending review.

why are some people have such quick turnarounds on the application to co dictionary approval?

Since you applied for renewal before the expiration date, you will continue to receive NEXUS benefits pending the final approval of your renewal application for up to eighteen months after your original expiration date (source).

Does anyone know what, exactly, "NEXUS benefits" refers to? i.e., I would assume that this includes Nexus lane entry into the United States (if the border is open, of course), but does this also include Nexus lane entry into Canada? In other words, is Canada providing a reciprocal extension of "benefits" to Nexus holders?

Yes, it says so at the top of the CBSA NEXUS page:

NEXUS/FAST members who submitted an application for membership renewal prior to the expiry date on the card will maintain their membership and remain in active status for 18 months beyond the expiry date, and will be allowed to access NEXUS/FAST designated lanes.

Well, my renewal process will definitely extend over the one-year mark. Just got the following email:

CBP Trusted Traveler Programs Enrollment Centers will remain closed until at least July 6, 2020. This temporary closure includes all public access to Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, and FAST enrollment locations. Applicants are encouraged to monitor their e-mail and Trusted Traveler Programs account for additional information and/or updates. CBP will continue to monitor federal response guidelines in order to resume enrollment center operations as soon as possible.

Due to the office closure your appointment has been cancelled. You will need to reschedule your appointment by logging on to your account at https://ttp.cbp.dhs.gov.

CBP’s highest priority is to ensure the health, safety and security of our workforce and the American people. CBP agents, officers, and mission support personnel continue to support the whole-of-government response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
