Yes, in approximately two weeks.

Thank you!

You mention both Nexus and Global Entry as well as stated/implied possibly overlapping membership timelines. Now that you have Nexus, do not take any action on your prior Global Entry membership - which has automatically been cancelled. Just to restate what may be obvious to most, a Nexus membership includes everything that Global Entry offers, and an individual can only be a member of Nexus or Global Entry. If an individual holds Nexus and then renews their Global Entry membership, their Nexus membership is cancelled (and visa versa).

Thanks for the reminder. Actually when I log into my account after I switched to Nexus, Global Entry does not show up anymore so I can only renew the Nexus membership. I know years ago people were running into the problem you described but I think CBP fixed the website so you can only renew one program.

Here's my data point:
  • Applied December 2019
  • Approved September 2020 -- about 9 months to the day, no interview required
  • Just got the card today

Wow - so they are even beyond the timeline I got told a few weeks ago, which was 8 months for renewal.

Nexus for my 5yo will expire in late Feb, and I was told even through the centers are not open for interviews, to renew now as it will extend the membership for up to 18 months beyond the listed expiry on the card so to not worry about that. Not that we are traveling anytime soon....but I'm hoping we'll be able to do it within 18 months. I'm happy that kids are still free - would not feel great about having to shell out the application fee when they aren't really completing the renewals.

It's possible they could extend it further if delays continue. It was initially pushed to 12 months then 18 months beyond expiry as the centres remained closed. Probably best to renew early since U.S. CBP and DHS are pushing to increase the NEXUS fee to $120 per person whilst still keeping kids free. Like yours, my renewal was submitted months prior to expiry because they were already delayed. Best of luck!

Just renewed Nexus today (expires in June 2021). QQ - are they sending emails telling you you are approved? Or do I need to keep checking the website.

Idaho Territory Nov 11, 2020 11:05 am

I got one email with the subject line of

TTP Application Status Change

logged in and then saw the approval. Of course no new card as of yet. The wife submitted hers the next day. Hers approved five days later.
