Exp: March 2020
Renewal filed: Aug 2019

It is not possible to update an application. Simply bring any updated/renewed documents to the interview - or if the renewal is approved without an interview, update documents using the TTP web site as usual. Given that MANY people experience extended delays, you will find that any interview officer you speak with will be entirely unsurprised that documents may have been updated since the application was submitted.

There is a definite lack of predictability or order in the renewal applications. Perhaps it is based on the number of renewals? Are first time renewals taking longer than second, third, etc.?

Without the burden of accepting or renewing applications from New York state perhaps the process might be a little faster for the rest of us. ;)

I feel for those in New York State.

According to CBP there is no relation when to the application was submitted. Standard response is that you have to be vetted and everyone is different. This is my first renewal so I'm not very familiar the renewal process.

Hi Folks, I've been following this forum for a while and figured it was about time I put in my two cents.

1st Nexus renewal application: July 31, 2019
Nexus Expiry: Jan 2020
Still awaiting conditional approval

Used the Global Entry self service kiosk at YYC for USA pre-clearance on February 22, 2020 (after Nexus expiry). This machine scans the passport and not the Nexus card. Very quick and painless, only a quick question from the agent about food in the luggage.

Used self service Global Entry kiosk at ORD on February 29, 2020. Again, this machine scans the passport not the Nexus card. No issues, no questions.

March 1, 2020 used TSA Precheck priority screening at ORD. Security agent accepted my expired Nexus card as ID along with my boarding pass.
March 1, 2020 arrival at YYC used the self service Nexus kiosk. This kiosk requires the Nexus card to be scanned. Had no issues using expired Nexus card. No questions from immigration or customs.

I hope this post puts some people at ease who were worried about travelling with an expired membership card. (I had my passport obviously with me as well, just in case!)

Will post approval date when I get it. 215 days and counting so far.

From what I've seen in the last few pages of this thread, it's just about always either a few days or 7.5 months. I haven't figured out a pattern for one or the other though.

Based on experience with other stuff that needs background checks, I am guessing that it has to do with whether somebody with a name like yours did something bad which caused a computer check to need to be interpreted by a human for whether it needed a harder look, but that's a guess.

Renewal application (GE and Nexus): August 15, 2019 (201 days)

In the interim, I had to get a new passport. Due to travel and return to country April 9. If I do not receive my new card, will I have to go through regular line?

Is it Global Entry or NEXUS? You can not have active memberships in both programs. Once a membership card is activated in one program, it is deactivated in the other. Please refer to the following thread:

NEXUS Card Gets Deactivated upon Final Approval of Global Entry Application

As long as you applied for renewal prior to the original Trusted Traveler membership expiration date, you will continue to receive Global Entry or NEXUS benefits for up to a year pending the final approval of the renewal application.

Sorry for the confusion... Nexus application. What are typical wait times for Nexus?

Average wait times are 7 months or longer. Some applicants have been approved in a few days though.

Finally I was approved today with no interview needed! 😊

I suggest being patient for another couple of months. Some applications are reported to take 7-8 months before a decision is made due to delays in US processing. There are few (and probably no) reports of application expedite requests being successful.
