Didn't realise I could renew a year before expiry. I renewed at the beginning of last month and still haven't heard back. I'm guessing I will have to go in for an interview considering the fact that Cuba and North Korea appear on my visited countries list among others. :D

Applied for NEXUS renewal online JAN 21.
Approved FEB 22 with no interview necessary. Card received yesterday MAR 6. 6 weeks overall........not bad. |
I applied for renewal on 2 Feb and received conditional approval on 8 Mar. I guess they didn't like (m)any of the 40+ countries I visited. Interview set for YUL because Montréal.

Also, your wait for conditional approval on renewal seems roughly consistent with what most people encounter (perhaps a few days longer), although you didn't get the benefit of interview skipping. Did you have a difficult interview the first time (presumably you still traveled a lot to unusual countries back then also), so that you anticipate your upcoming interview will also be difficult? |

So it sounds like you've decided to turn your (unfortunately) required interview into an opportunity to spend some time in Montreal?

Yes. I have family up in those parts, so I'll pop in for an hour or two before my interview. I will likely always be conditionally approved. I always have weird countries in my list. Among which: Belarus, Cuba, DPRK, Serbia, Tunisia, Ukraine likely attracted the most attention. Either that, or the fact I'm running for public office. Perhaps, it's time to do a FlyerTalk interview. :D
If you're a US citizen/LPR, you may also want to take a look at recent postings on the Cuba GE thread: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trus...avel-cuba.html in case the CBP officer at your NEXUS interview asks difficult questions about your Cuba travel similar to what those people encountered at GE interviews. |
Thanks for the information. I travelled on a group tour anticipating that the next leader would pull this type of crap. I supported the Cuban people by buying a pretty pricy painting from a famous Cuban artist. I also didn't buy anything from government stores. I think I'll be okay, but I've asked Delta to furnish a copy of my OFAC declaration, and I'll bring that to my interview with my itinerary and all three of my receipts.

I've got GE, been through a renewal already. I applied for Nexus in Sept of 2017, still waiting for approval. I called CBP and they said that their side was good to go and they were waiting on the Canadian side. I called CBSA and they said they have NO record of my application. I applied via the GOES site...the rep took my name and phone number and said they would have to open a ticket with Ottawa? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Are the renewals typically quicker than new applications for conditional approval? I am in YYZ, if that matters.
|
I applied mid-March and am still waiting for the conditional approval on my renewal. I can't find the email from my last renewal but I don't seem to think it took this long.
My existing membership expires in about 3 weeks. Here is hoping my procrastination doesn't cause me to become Nexusless for a period. |
My renewal is still awaiting approval as well, applied March 22nd.

Same here - March 20 for me. |
