I applied in January and got approved in Exactly 18 work days. Found an interview date 10 days later and got the card in the mail two weeks later. At the beginning of April applied for my family and got the approval last week.

wow this is a major bummer my card expires in late august i just put in renewal based on data points, i may not get renewed in time. i visited a lot of countries and lived overseas too :/ |
Two renewals (me and my wife):
Applied: April 16, 2018 Approved (no interview): June 11, 2018 Duration: 57 days (40 workdays, or just over 8 weeks) Card received: June 19, 2018 (Vancouver, BC Area). Mailing time: 7 days Total duration (from application to receipt of card): 65 days (45 workdays, or just over 9 weeks) |
I applied for renewal April 24. Still no word.
What i think the issue is, is that people hear that it takes so long that they're all applying early, gumming up the system. A lady I know has hers expiring in November and she's already applied, which then pushes back anyone who may apply now hoping to get it in even just two months. What is really annoying too is the Canadian government site that tells you of the 'estimated wait times' still says 20 days, and hasn't been updated since April....so they have no idea. Hopefully its only another week for me. My card expires this coming Sunday. I did read that you can use an expired card for 6 months if your application is pending though. |

Also, the wait time varies significantly. A few years back when I applied, the wait time was about 17 weeks. However, I was approved in about 3 weeks. Apparently they went through and cleared a good chunk of the backlog. |

Applied on Apr 29 and just got approval today..
Anyone know if I can schedule the appointment in Canada instead of US office? I don't see an option to choose the office in Canada in my TTP schedule website?:( |
Question on renewals - if you're approved at the interview, but your card is already expired, do you need to wait for a new card to be mailed, or can you begin using Nexus/GE right away after the interview?

Has anyone received/activated their new card without an interview? My boyfriend renewed his card, waited a few weeks then checked the website a few days ago. There are check marks beside 'schedule an interview' and 'have interview, wait for approval' however he never scheduled an interview. Just wondering if this is common or at least happens to a couple of people.
Update: Card received June 18th (applied April 17th). No interview. |

You need to have a final approval. i.e. status change to "approved"
Yes Not sure how long it takes to update NEXUS/Global Entry system. As soon as your final approval is updated in the system, you can use Global Entry kiosk immediately. Except when a valid physical NEXUS card is required:
Status change to approved occurred about 20 minutes after leaving the Nexus office in YVR. |
Applied for renewal on April 23, 2018. Card expired June 12, 2018. Still showing "pending review" here on June 18, 2018. Found this forum too late. Will ensure the rest of the family applies for their renewals sooner. Thanks for all the great information here!
