I am adding a data point as a "plain" US Citizen (no other citizenship past or present). I did get emails to indicate a "status change" when conditionally approved.

Applied: March 9, 2017
Conditional approval: May 13
First available appointment: May 15 Niagara Falls, NY
Actual appointment: May 18
Approval: Emailed before I left the building.
Nexus Card arrived in mailbox: May 22 (surprisingly fast)
APEC card in Mailbox: May 26

Me: Happy that I get to use it on my upcoming trip June 3.

Conditional Approval: Still waiting
Interview:
Approved:
Card arrived:

Husband and 13 yr old son applied: March 5 2017
Conditional Approval: 4/19
Interview: Scheduled for 6/14 hoping I will be approved to interview by then
Approved:
Card arrived:

Adult daughter applied: March 12 2017
Conditional Approval: 4/25
Interview: Scheduled for late fall when she will be travelling near an interview facility
Approved:
Card arrived:

Adult son applied same day as I did and has already has his card. (Sorry, I don't have his exact dates)

The only reason I can think that mine is taking so long is that I have more names than they do. (I was adopted when I was 11 and I've been married twice). In fact, my husband has traveled many more places out of the country than I have.

Applied: Feb 28 2017

We have a trip booked to go to the US in early September and I figured applying in early April would be early enough, but now I'm starting to get concerned that it wasn't early enough

I also noticed that the CBSA hasn't updated the average wait time for the conditional approval since the end of March. Curious as to why

Argh!!!!

Those waiting from Feb 27th and +-1 week, please start calling the CBSA/GOES numbers and/or send emails to CBP.

If more people bring attention to the abnormal timelines, it might push them to process old pending cases with more urgency.

Email:
https://help.cbp.gov/app/ask

Helpline numbers:
800-842-7647 for CBSA
855-USE-GOES for GOES

I called four weeks back, they said it shouldn't be long. Well of course I am still waiting. Applied Feb 23rd. Husband the same day and he has now had his interview and has his card.

Not sure how calling will help.

Not personal experience, but just a funny (thread topic related) anecdote...

Went into the NEXUS enrollment center at YYZ (got a new work permit and needed it filed) and someone signed in at the update book (they have a sheet for appointments and a sheet for updates like mine) asking if they could get the application number, having applied two months ago. The CBSA officer seemed shocked that someone in their twenties would apply by mail and said that until they received some sort of reference number (E.g. PASS ID) there is nothing they could do. Commented (not to the person's face) that people should apply online and "catch up with the twenty first century".

So it definitely seems as though paper applications are significantly slower...

Anyhow, on an semi-related note, apparently if you have almost doc expire (work permit, visa, etc.) then it's an automatic flag on NEXUS for IMM 1-1. Until you visit an enrollment center, it won't get cleared.

Well, I applied by mail for one single reason: I did not want to pay 50 USD instead of 50 CAD. Year ago, it added a week to processing time and I was okay with that

Online Application - Feb 23rd 2017
Email Approval Notification – June 9th 2017
Interview appointment - June 13th 2017 (was amazed at how soon a spot was available).

So almost 100 days.

Husband applied on the same day, was interviewed May 16th and is still waiting for his card.

Do you travel to Asia frequently? I have two trips in the near future to China, wondering if the APEC card is worth it. Already have Global Entry.
